That was the idea behind the “dog spirit” I did for the garden. It is large enough to house ashes of a big dog.. however I don’t think I want to tackle dogs. There already are so many companies out there that do excellent dogs, and dog memorials. ( I think Sandicast sold out to a dog memorial company, I ran across it online somewhere, nobody can compete with her sculptures of dogs!) I only plan to do cat memorials.
Any pictures available of the “dog spirit”? Please? There are 2 pics of it in my Elfwood gallery.http://www.elfwood.com/art/m/e/melodypena/melodypena.html
Quick question. I remember years ago (about 5) going into Green Earth who used to sell Windstones. They had a large winged wolf that looked just like the spirit wolf. It was big…. but, I can’t remember just how big. I think it was larger than the emperor. Was this from Windstone? It didn’t look like that “dog spirit”. I think it was the same stone finish as the spirit wolf…. I loved that wolf, I wanted it soooo bad. I just couldn’t figure out how I would ever get it home.
February 14, 2008 at 11:02 pm #663817i don’t mean to be silly, but are you sure you’re not thinking of the Wolf Candlelamp?

My art: featherdust.comFebruary 14, 2008 at 11:06 pm #663818Oh no, it was much bigger and didn’t have a place for a candle. It was big. I remember they had him on the floor with other large outdoor statues.
They had the candlelamp on the shelf with the hippogriff.
February 14, 2008 at 11:07 pm #663819Sounds like Sandicast… was he like this at all?

My art: featherdust.comFebruary 14, 2008 at 11:09 pm #663820No, it looked just like the spirit wolf. (Maybe it wasn’t a Windstone….)
February 14, 2008 at 11:10 pm #663821Weird! Maybe Melody can shed some light on that one. I hope it wasn’t an (oversized) knock-off :/

I sure hope not. I’ve only seen one. I’ve never seen another like it.
October 24, 2008 at 8:01 pm #663823Looks like it’s been a while since anyone posted here, but here goes. I would really love a PYO flapcat memorial. My dearest Bandit passed away this past june, and I haven’t found a thing anywhere that I feel captures my love and affection for him, or his spirit. I would pay just about anything for one of the feather winged flapcats with bright blue eyes that I could paint in snowshoe/siamese coloring. I miss him so terribly.
October 24, 2008 at 8:27 pm #663824I agree…. although some of my kitties would be interesting to capture on statue… well… Kimi and her “featherduster” tail would be… flat long fur (almost 5″ on her tail!).
There are some of my kitties I would love to make a memorial for. Fluff, Mothball, Sugar, Spice (because Spice and Sugar go together )…. I’m waiting to get them, because I already have a potential commission from someone for one (when they come out, that is…).
If the urn thing were to be done, I would say that it would have to be sold separately, just made to house the ashes, that the cat could easily sit on (maybe make it look like a pillow or something?).
October 24, 2008 at 9:24 pm #663825I also am waiting for a PYO flapcat, so I can capture the beauty of my dear little Katie that left me in August (or frozendragon can perhaps).
Fortunately, I already have one of Claire (that Melody painted – Calico Flapcat #2), even though Claire is still with me for a while longer (she has cancer, so I’m not sure how much longer).
October 25, 2008 at 3:48 pm #663826I think the memorial pyo flapcat is a wonderful, wonderful idea. I’ve never cremated a pet, but I would love the chance to paint a sculpture of some of my darlings in remembrance of them. I don’t suppose you plan to do one of a persian cat…? (I don’t think I’ve ever seen a persian sculpture I liked, so I’d also simply love to see one in your style!).
October 28, 2008 at 2:29 am #663827And I too, am waiting on a flapcat, although my request was for a small, damaged one that I was planning on repainting for poor Turbo, who left us in July. We didn’t have him cremated, though…… 🙁
