khat7, I love the color of Alf (hehe!), he’s beautiful. DC did a wonderful job on the pyo, too.

The only problem I could see with that is: how does one make a container that will accept the ashes of a 6lb terrier OR a 140lb mastiff?? 😉
Just have a smaller size and a larger one, Set them up as smaller pedestals or taller one like a box for the ashes to rest in. Ashes don’t take up very much space. My 10lbs cat Squeeky came back to me in a can smaller than standard soup can from the grocery store. Even People don’t take up that much room. People can fit into a standard quart mason jar and be put on the shelf. (Grandpa ran a funeral home and he some clients who didn’t pick up their relatives.) It was interesting cleaning out my grandparents garage.Looking for Blue Fawn Baby Kirin

Sun Dragon Koi #3February 14, 2008 at 6:08 pm #663800I think I only have 1 more post to go b4 I can show an image… so this should do it. Also, my comments on a container for pet ashes… Please don’t hollow out the PYO Kitties…. Having a ‘box’ maybe even short collumn (sp?) That the statue could set ontop of would be wonderful, it could be done in 3 sizes/heights. Personally, I wouldn’t have any use for it. Because the only pet that I had a body of, was my Marmalade who died in her sleep and was burried nearly 5 years ago…. I’m not going to go dig her up to have her cremated. But If I could have done that for my babies, I would want the option of a container.

February 14, 2008 at 6:27 pm #663803My cat was cremated and she came back to us sealed in a wooden box. I wouldn’t want to open that box and transfer her ashes to the receptacle in the memorial…so I think it should be an option if you do decide to do the receptacles.
It would be very cool to have a memorial statue PYO for her though. She’d sit in my case with my dragons 🙂

See your place gives better containers. Mine came back in tins. The ashes were in a plastic bag for easy transference. I’d like a nice wooden box.

Sun Dragon Koi #3February 14, 2008 at 6:53 pm #663805Hi PurpleCat,
Yup, Adobe Photoshop!
Really really, wanted to see what my Tessa would look like with wings. I think a purple and blue interference on the white wings would be nice, and I almost made it look like that in the pic. Took me an hour dinking around trying to remember all the little tricks I learned a few years back. Not as nice as I use to be able to do, but works in pinch.

That was the idea behind the “dog spirit” I did for the garden. It is large enough to house ashes of a big dog.. however I don’t think I want to tackle dogs. There already are so many companies out there that do excellent dogs, and dog memorials. ( I think Sandicast sold out to a dog memorial company, I ran across it online somewhere, nobody can compete with her sculptures of dogs!) I only plan to do cat memorials. But I don’t intend for the pyo cat to necessarily have to be a likeness of dead ones! I love to paint cats likenesses whether they are deceased or not!
( then, maybe the urn part could be bought to go with the sculpture when the time comes. ugh. I hate thinking of anybody’s cats passing…really. I love ours so much. )February 14, 2008 at 7:05 pm #663807Hey! Bright idea! or at least i think so…. A combination of topics here: PYO’s, Memorial Cats, and Club Exclusives….
If Melody posted more pictures of her sculptures in an unpainted (white) form from different angles then people who Adobe Photoshop could make virtual PYO’s. You could even print out the ‘blank canvas’ and color if you aren’t Photoshop savvy. It would be an interesting way to get visual ideas for the PYO pieces, Future colors/varieties for current sale pieces, or even a way to vote on ideas for a Club Exclusive piece. Wha’da’ya think?

I know how big the ashes are, but I don’t know the various ways they are housed by the different places that cremate them. I would want to make an an urn large enough to house the containers they are shipped in. I’ve seen human “cremains” and they came in a regular brown cardboard box!
