What colors do you think are best liked and that you think sells best from your observations?
And please comment on what you personally like.January 1, 2008 at 7:24 pm #651653Well it really depends on what sculpt you are doing because certain colors tend to sell better on one sculpt than they do on another.
January 1, 2008 at 7:25 pm #651654I’m more attracted to cool colours-blues, purples…
January 1, 2008 at 7:32 pm #651655I’m partial to cool, bright colors with metallic highlights for dragons …but I also like natural, real-life reptile colors like the incredible shade of turquoise on ‘blue bellied’ lizards that live in our corn patch in California.

January 1, 2008 at 8:59 pm #651656All of my dark colored ones sold very well.
January 2, 2008 at 6:45 am #651657Personally I like vibrant colors, but I think, looking at Nam’s and asinammon’s work, that natural colors sell best.
January 2, 2008 at 4:53 pm #651658I said the dark colors because I was thinking about the Rainforest Lap. However, I also LOVE Gold, Rainbow, Emerald, and Jade. I like Black Gold too, and I think it sells well (at least for my business). And the Emerald Peacock sells well too, although it’s not my favorite.
I think the new Silver is pretty and wish it was regular production so I could sell them with the Gold.
The new Red Fire color is also very pretty and bright.
The Old Brown and Old Green are both pretty. I don’t really like White, but it’s starting to grow on me. The Peacock is pretty, but I liked it better when it was the less-green version.
I also like the natural colors of animals, depending how it turns out. And bright birds like parrots, blue jays, and cardinals. (In fact, I love birds.)
So, how in the world do I answer a poll like this without feeling that my answer is wrong in some way?
January 2, 2008 at 7:07 pm #651659As a buyer, I need an “all of the above” option. 😆
January 2, 2008 at 7:47 pm #651660I like greens and purples the best but I like almost anything except yellows, pinks and oranges.
January 2, 2008 at 8:04 pm #651661I think the naturals, in brown/beige variations, seem to do best.
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

I host the feedback lists, which are maintained by drag0nfeathers.
http://www.sarahjestin.com/feedbacklists.htmJanuary 2, 2008 at 9:39 pm #651662Ha, I can’t vote because I think there is a market for all those choices. However, I think there is a slightly smaller market among Windstone collectors for natural colors like brown, beiges and creams.
I’m forming that opinion on the color schemes that are being released for the production pieces as well as Limited Editions and OOAKs from Melody and Olympia, and the overwhelming :squeak: ing for colors such as Silver, Violet Flame, and Autumn Leaf.
Personally, when it comes to Windstones, I tend to gravitate more towards the natural and neutral color schemes.
January 3, 2008 at 1:42 pm #651663I couldn’t vote, I don;t have an answer. I think it depends on the scultp. I have done some ‘fantasy’ colors on griffs and they either haven’t sold, or have sold so low I may as well have kept them. If we are talking about the wolves, I think any natural color would do well. Personally, I’m not one for a purple wolf, so I always look to a real canine for color inspiration. Now, dragons, I have done well with bright, dark, light, neutral, etc….I haven’t done any kirins lately, but again, I go more towards browns and neutrals….Unicorns *ugh* I haven’t a clue…
I think it also depends on where you plan to sell. Ebay can be your best friend one day and a total let down the next. I’ll be honest in this. I have done some really pretty dragons that end up going for $55. I have also done dragons that have gone for over $300. I’m thinking about taking some with me to the craft shows I do in the summer…
How is that for an easy answer? 😆
