December 1, 2008 at 6:53 pm #664767An Announcement:
Well, I had been debating on whether to discontinue the moonshell dragonsnail. I’ve already refined it once, and the wing area doesnt match the newer Rufa dragonsnail. My carved initials were also messier than I prefer. Instead of discontinuing him, I’ve decided to refine him yet again. He’s a cute little sculpt, and I’d miss painting him in the newer colors. This does mean that there will be 3 variations of that sculpt out there though.
First Generation–these were cast from the original clay sculpt, and have no carving on the scales and wing…also these featured glass eyes, rather than the newer resin variety. There were only 4 colors released on this version, Seafoam, Flare Blue, Sandstone, and Rose gold.
Second generation–These are what are currently available now, and have resin eyes. They have carved and bordered neck scales, along with other subtle differences. I’ll be painting the rest of my castings of these and then mark them as out of stock til the new prototype is ready. We’ve done several colors on these, and a couple test paints…so I’ll need to compile a list once they’ve all been painted.
Third Generation–What the new moonshell will be once I’ve redone the wing, refined the shell a bit…and done other changes to the sculpt…just to refine the overall look of this little fellow.
Once I have a test paint of the third generation moonshell, I’ll take pics of each..and put up a photo log of his progress. 🙂
December 2, 2008 at 6:35 am #664768I’m glad you’re not discontinuing that sculpt. It’s too pretty to get dumped.
December 2, 2008 at 12:34 pm #664769yeah…I really like him too, and thought it’d be better just to further improve him. 🙂
December 3, 2008 at 12:58 am #664770I’m glad you’re keeping the moonshell sculpt too! It’s one of my very favorites…such a charming little fellow. 🙂 (plus, it’s one of the most affordable sculpts, and I hold out hope that one of these days I’ll stop bleeding money and can get myself one!). The moss one is especially tempting…lovely!
December 3, 2008 at 1:16 am #664771I love my little moonshell as well. Hopefully I can get another, but I have my favorite one at least! :}
December 3, 2008 at 4:29 am #664772Yes. I’m glad too. I still need to get one of those little cuties too. I just need to pick a color.
December 3, 2008 at 6:13 am #664773I only have one, an original blue one. I plan on getting more though. And someday, my original with be worth thousands! Heeheeheee. 😛
December 3, 2008 at 2:45 pm #664774The chirpmunk is the first piece I ever reproduced and sold as Purplecat Creatives, so you never know…he might actually be worth something someday! I think I made around a dozen of them…so there arent too many out there. 🙂
December 3, 2008 at 7:23 pm #664775I luvs my chirpmunk!! He’s so cute. And I love my moonshells too so I’m going to need more. Just after Christmas…
December 3, 2008 at 10:57 pm #664776rose bud moon shells are sold out. One green tea left.
December 4, 2008 at 3:53 am #664777I love my chirpmunk too. So does my stepdaughter, so if you wanted to make more, I would probably get another one from you.

And I have one! He’s still my favorite Purplecat piece.
December 4, 2008 at 2:23 pm #664779oh…and most of them had blue wings…though I think I made one with white wings. So I suppose that would be super rare. also…I only made three of the hippocampus before I lost him, and I kept one. And there are only two uglitoads…one of those I kept too! And there were 4 cloudfish produced, 2 spotted, 1 midnight, and one golden. I own the golden. I dont remember everyone who bought my earlier pieces, but thank you all, it helped fund me keeping up my progress, and buying the supplies to keep trying and getting better! 🙂
December 4, 2008 at 4:31 pm #664780I have the white-winged chirpmunk. 😀
