I’m moving! Not going very far, just a few blocks away to a better apartment. But, of course, when moving you box up everything and find weird junk, and decide that “I don’t want to move this!”
I’ve decided there are two things that I don’t want to move, really.
One is my purple young dragon.

He’s got one teeeeeeeeny tiny chip on his wing, and I think there’s another one somewhere, but I forget where, it’s very small if it is there. Since he’s been painted up, you can’t see them. He’s nice as is, or you could repaint over the top of my paint job. I’ve no real idea of what he’s worth, make me an offer. I’ll trade as well, and would take almost anything for him.I’m also trying to get rid of my phoenix tapestry, and I figured that you guys may or may not be interested, but you at least realize that handmade art has value, which sometimes I think the people on ebay don’t! (I tried to sell this there once, got no bids. Probably because my starting bid was high, but dang it, I’m not going to sell it for a pittance! I spent nearly a month weaving the thing, putting in three or four hours almost every single day! It was for a weaving class, which is the only reason I had the time to do that.)
It’s 100% hand-woven by yours truly. I hand-dyed the fibers myself, they’re a rayon blend and are disgustingly soft. The pattern is woven in, as it’s a double-weave fabric, with two layers, so the pattern shows on both sides, in reversed colors. It has a very long trailing fringe, so it’s designed to be hung on a wall. The main tapestry is 18″ long and 12″ wide, the trailing fringe is something like a yard long added to that.

I’ll take Windstones in trade, or you can make a monetary offer.
(Oh, I’m also getting rid of my old pokemon card collection, but I’m not sure if anybody here would care about that.)

The tapestry is still available. It probably will be for some time.
December 28, 2006 at 9:19 pm #519551I thought your tapestry was very pretty. I just dont have the funds. I really like hand made quality things. You cant buy stuff like that anymore.
December 28, 2006 at 9:22 pm #519552Aww, thanks!
There aren’t many people who hand-weave these days. Evne the people who “hand weave” often have a computer loom.
I want to do more weaving someday, but looms are really expensive!
December 28, 2006 at 9:28 pm #519553I would imagine so! I have heard of looms but only from my romance novels. I have never seen one in person, so they must be hard to get or pretty pricey. Plus, as you say, everyone is using technology. What fun is that? What did you hope to get for it? You mentioned trading for Windstones, so thats a big price range. You can PM me…I am just curious.
December 28, 2006 at 9:38 pm #519554Well… I’m really torn about how much I should ask. If I priced it by the time put into it the way I price my costumes, it would be like $600! Obviously that’s way too much. But I was hoping to get at least $100 for it. I don’t know if I’ll be able to though. That’s still a lot.

I dont think $100 is unreasonable. I like it…esp if its really soft like that! I love the soft stuff…

Don’t undervalue your work. I’m sure you wouldn’t get $600 for it even if it was worth twice as much. Unfortunatly, people don’t understand time and cost of materials or the time consumed in planning. I stopped painting for a reason.
I really liked this tapestry. I would buy it from you for more than $100 if I could. Having no money sucks. I’m really glad Ski is interested.December 28, 2006 at 9:52 pm #519557Hey can you post a link for the dragon. I have been looking for a tapestry for my living room. How big did you say it was? Would it fade if it were in the sun?

It was 18″ by 12″ plus fringe but the link of the pic isnt working anymore. I wanted to see it again.
And you are right, Romeo…Folks just figure they can make stuff cheaper, quicker. It just doesn’t have the same quality.
December 28, 2006 at 9:57 pm #519559The woven part is 18″ long by 12″ wide, the top fringe is 8″ or so, the bottom fringe is 36″, so the whole thing is 62″ long. I’m not 100% sure, but the dye I used on it isn’t supposed to fade, so it should be fine if left in the sun. (It’s guaranteed to not fade with washing, but I’m not sure if that means it won’t fade in sunlight or not.)
And Ski, it is SUPER soft! And sligtly fuzzy because I used a chenille yarn.
The dragon auction should be here, but it hasn’t started yet. I put it up at like… 2 am last night, and I wanted it to end while people would be awake to snipe it!
Oh, and it looks like my website is down right now, so the photos aren’t working, but they’ll be back up. Maybe I’ll go take another one though, and post it somewhere else….

December 28, 2006 at 10:24 pm #519561Is the color a true red or is it pink and orange?
December 28, 2006 at 11:03 pm #519562It’s got pink in it, and true red, and orange, and yellow. Bit of everything, even a touch of purple tone in the darker parts.
