Hello guys. I purchased a Windstone from a forum member through PayPal friends and family. I have purchased successfully from this forum member before and had hardly any issue. It has now been around 50 days since I sent the payment (it wasn’t super spendy) and after being assured it was sent I have not heard from the seller here on the forum or through email. I’m ok with a refund but I’m also a bit worried in case something happened to the seller. I’ve never encountered this issue before. How would you guys go about it?
Thank you.

There is one particular person who is notorious for that. Check the white list and black list to see who – that person is on both. If it is someone else, then maybe something has happened to her. If it is who I am thinking, you may be SOL.My keyboard is broken. I keep pressing "Escape", but I'm still here.
November 9, 2016 at 12:19 pm #1509836Ok I’ll do that. I’m not terribly worried to be honest. I really really like the seller and we have done fantastic business in the past. I feel confident an agreeable conclusion will come up. Thank you so much for your advice :3

November 9, 2016 at 12:47 pm #1509838If it were me I’d be would be very worried that so much time has passed since you’ve heard from the seller with no sign of shipment, heck I’d be worried if a week passed without any info from the seller, but I’m a worry wart mind you lol. If you had used ‘Goods and services’ as a payment option I would totally suggest asking Paypal to refund you your money if the seller wasn’t getting back to you. Unfortunately I don’t how helpful PP would be since you used the ‘friends and family’ option which from what I’ve always heard, doesn’t offer much buyer protection.
Here’s hoping the seller can be found(maybe even try looking for them on Facebook?) and all can be settled with out any stress. Good luck and I hope everything turns out well in the end!

I think a week with no communication is standard panic time, in my humble opinion (unless you know it’s being shipped from overseas which is obviously going to take a lot longer).
It’s very risky using the friends and family option in Paypal. Because they expect you to know and implicitly trust the people with whom you use that option, they don’t offer any safeguards. The lack of safeguards is also meant to be a deterrent to those who are trying to avoid the fees associated with the business ‘goods and services’ option. Long story short, it’s generally safer to go with the business option even if you’ve had no problems with seller before, if only to make sure Paypal will cover you should problems arise (like in this situation).
As for your missing person…I don’t know what to tell you. All I can say is best of luck sorting this situation out, and I hope it goes well for you with minimal hassle.
November 9, 2016 at 4:51 pm #1509852Sorry to hear that. Echoing what GardenNinja said I hope it is not the one person several of us have had issues with on here in the past. A couple years ago I was supposed to get in a unicorn colt and didn’t hear anything back for over a month. It happened to a bunch of people with the same seller actually and after contacting her here with no response, we tried Ebay and other sources to contact her and finally she shipped out all our pieces. I got mine finally after waiting 2 months. Did you get a tracking number from the seller? If you trade with or buy from someone, I would be concerned if they didn’t get back to you with a tracking number within one week. I always ship and get back with tracking within a couple days. If you want to message me about it I may know who they are or how to get a hold of them. I know some people on here are not getting notifications for messages and are sometimes easier to reach on facebook or ebay.
Looking for rainbow or pink & teal grab bags!
November 9, 2016 at 5:55 pm #1509854Thanks for all the awesome replies! I was issued a refund from the seller today with profuse apologies for letting it slip through the cracks. I know the seller is busy so I’m not the least bit mad.
I appreciate the feedback and for the future will do goods and services via PayPal and just pay extra for the fee. Seems safer that way 🙂

To all: Part of our buying/selling/trading rules suggest that you never send money for a purchase or trade via “friends and family” as it offers no protection. It’s also against Paypal’s terms to do so if you are paying for any sort of goods, and can result in your Paypal account being frozen or even closed if you are caught. Sellers are responsible for transaction fees.
Sellers: Sending Paypal invoices is easy, and allows you to keep better track of sales, especially at tax time! It also prevents a buyer from sending the wrong amount, or sending it to the wrong address, or sending it as “friends and family” (which can land you in trouble)!
Trust me, I know those fees are no fun, as I do most of my business online, but they are there since it is an otherwise free service between you and a financial institution (which in theory can offer you protection against the bad eggs).
