Here are a few more new critters. I hate how the photos came out. It’s to damn cold to take pictures outside, and the lighting I have indoors is not very conducive to taking photos 🙄 . The fist one is called Baku. A baku is a mythical creature that eats nightmares. The irony of naming a mythical creature after another mythical critter was not lost on me, but I liked how it sounded. Plus, the kirin’s felt bottom doesn’t really give you room for a long fancy name.

The next critter is called Verdigris. His colors are inspired by the Leafy Cat Sconce. His eyes are actually ones I provided myself. I tried green eyes, brown eyes and even orange eyes, but none of them worked. I’m not sure what color you would call the eyes I picked – in person they look between a orange and a light brown. They actually match his bright coppery tummy very well.

Beautiful work on both! I adore the naturalistic way you handle fur on your unicorns anyway; here it’s translated so well onto the ki-rin, and the scales compliment the fur beautifully. I love the use of the blue interference, and the dots on the scales. And the eyes and belly on Verdigris are delightful! That’s such a rich color . . . makes me want to dollop it with whipped cream. (Okay, somebody needs to go get some dinner. ;))

Seriously, though, it’s wonderful that you were able to find (make?) eyes that worked so well with the rest of the paint job on him. They really make the greens pop. 🙂
