Greetings,
I’m sure many of you have noticed me lurking and commenting on the form. I probably should of done an intro post first, but truth is I am rather shy. Probably hard to tell for I have been a bit vocal here, which obviously means I feel comfortable already. Guess a late intro is better then none at all?!
I joined the forums last year after I found Melody’s DA account. I didn’t become active until after I lost my Step-father to cancer earlier this year. It was a hard blow, Rick was more of a father to me then my real Dad. Rick and I became estranged for a little while, he came back into my life only to be taken out again. In an effort to cheer me up, I decided to treat myself to something nice. I have long since been a fan of Windstone and I decided I wanted a Dragon, but one signed by Melody w/ a doodle and etruscan made my wish come true. Of course, no matter how hard I try I won;t be able to fill the emptiness losing RIck has caused.
My first acquired Windstone piece was the large black & white Flap Cat. I got him from the Williamsburg VA Pottery well over 11 years ago. I have always wanted to add more to my collection, but disability doesn’t pay much. I suffer from mental illness and I am not afraid or ashamed for it is apart of who I am. I also have physical issues, such as Fibromyalgia which are starting to effect me as I get older. I’m 33 but my body feels like it is 50…:
I own a menagerie of animals from lizards to cats. Here is a list of all my “kids”:
Rory – Enigma Leopard Gecko
Amelia – Super Snow Leopard Gecko
Sputnik – Crested Gecko
Sage – Brown Basilisk
Jaden Yuki – Maine Coon Mix Kitty – Rescued
Jiraiya – Russian Blue Mix Kitty – Rescued
Bappy – Meyer’s ParrotI didn’t name Bappy, her former owners did. After the sudden loss of my Meyer’s Parrot, Noodle last year (the apartment complex is at fault), I was given Bappy who is the full sister to Noodle. My Mom once had a pet store, we owned Noodle’s parents and I knew who my Mom sold her parents to. It was hard losing Noodle, I had hand fed her from the time she was a chick. Noodle was the closet thing to a real daughter I will ever have.
I have been in a long time relationship with my fiance Rodney. He is a traumatic brain injury survivor, he had a horse riding accident way before I met him. I’ve gotten him hooked on Windstone now, his first piece is from the recent GB batch.
This has been a rough year, but I hope that turns around. I have a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit Japan for 2 1/2 weeks in October. Everything is falling into place and it seems this trip is meant to be!! I’ve had to sell a lot of my collectable, but it will be worth it. I didn’t part with any Windstones however…;)
Recently, I acquired a couple new Winstone pieces off of eBay. One is a Quest prize bat wing Flap Cat and the other is a test paint bat wing Flap Cat refereed to as Tiger #2. I had enough money to treat myself to a GB COlt as well, I didn’t get one I wanted but “Hollybug” is growing on me. FOr now, I must close my purse strings if I am to make Japan a reality.
Well, this has gotten long enough so I think it is time to end it…:)
~Christa~
Edit – I should probably mention that I didn’t name Sputnik either. He was given to me by a friend who needed to cut down on her Crested Geckos. Brittany new I would give Sputnik a good home.

July 22, 2014 at 5:04 pm #916087Hello PhoenixFox,
It’s nice to meet you. I haven’t been on the forums long either, really. I can hardly imagine how you deal with the troubles that have befallen you, but you seem like a strong and capable person. Congratulations on your new Windstones!
Best of luck with your trip to Japan, and taking care of your animals. I like the names on the first two. The third means ‘fellow traveller’ I believe?
Sincerely,
StormbreezeKeeping an eye out for fantasy gryphons and test paint dragons.

StormbreezeWelcome to the community, it is nice to meet you too. You are not the first person to mention that how strong I seem. Truth be told, there are times I just want to curl up in a corner and forget everything. In the end I don’t for not only do my animals need be, but so does Rodney. Thanks…:)
I can’t wait for the Japan trip, I really need a break. I forgot to mention that I didn’t name Sputnik either, he was given to me by a friend. When I look-up the name online I get info about Russian satellites, LOL!! 😀
July 22, 2014 at 8:59 pm #916106Welcome to the community! Sometimes it’s difficult to become involved because of all the already established relationships so kudos on jumping in with an intro. Lol, I still haven’t made one (I really have no idea what to say about myself) so you have a leg up on me. ;D
I hope you have a lot of fun in Japan! Visiting there and Australia is on my bucket list so I have to say I’m totally envious. Seriously, I hope you get the absolute most out of your trip and everything goes awesomely!
To finish, have fun on the forums. We’re glad you’re here. 🙂

What an awesome group of “kiddos” you have. I wish so badly I could have a cat, but I live in an pet intolerant apartment complex. But I still have a couple sunset fire platy fish. Don’t tell the office manager! 😉
Congrats on your future trip to Japan. I’ve heard it’s quite a beautiful country with rich history and art. I bet it will be an awesome experience.
Also, congrats on the new Windstones. 🙂

Thanks for the welcome. I wasn’t sure what to say about myself either?! I wanted to keep my intro a short and sweet as possible. I have a bad habit of rambling on…:P
Japan is on my bucket list too, though I wouldn’t mind visiting Australia either. My friend and I have so many things we plan to do while we are there. Parting with some of my collectables to fund this trip wasn’t easy but it WILL be worth it in the end…;)
Thanks, I’ve been having a blast looking at the Colts everyone has received.

Thanks, sometimes I wonder how I am able to stay strong. I know that Rodney is a big piece of my strength, he lets nothing phase him. I’ve also learned that there is always someone who has it worse, which can be hard to believe but it is true! Good motto, “Stay strong and overcome.”
The complex rules state only one cat, but I got special permission to keep Jiraiya. If I had not taken him in when I did, he would of died Sadly, due to contracting feline herpes as a kitten, Jiraiya will go blind as he ages. Animals adapt and I know that Jaden will also lend a paw of need be. He has been so motherly towards Jiraiya since day one. I won;t tell the office manager your secret…;)
Thanks, many have told me that October is a great time to go too. Apparently, they have a lot of festivals then.

July 23, 2014 at 4:22 pm #916179Yes, welcome! I own a Meyer’s parrot as well and she is the sweetest thing. Her name is Amy and she is six years old. Good to welcome another animal lover.

Glad to find another Meyer’s owner, they are not very common. Noodle was 12 when she passed and Bappy is roughly 6 years old. Bappy warmed up to me right away and has adjusted well. My fiance loves her to pieces…:)
July 24, 2014 at 8:55 am #916239Hi and welcome. Don’t worry, I don’t think I posted an introduction either until a couple or few months after I joined the forum either. Sorry to hear about your step father. That is a tough thing to go through. I actually joined this and started buying Windstones after a major break up with my boyfriend over a year and a half ago. They made me feel better I guess to do something nice for myself. I have some issues with anxiety and depression myself so I can relate a little. It’s not always easy but it’s nice to find a supportive group of people to talk and connect with. It sounds like you have a nice fiance and a nice family of animals there! We have 5 rescue cats and one had 4 kittens so I just posted some pics in another thread. I used to have dogs and rodents and even an African Grey parrot at one point but had to re-home him when we unfortunately went through a foreclosure and had to move into a rental. It’s always nice to meet others who help give deserving animals a home! You also seem to have a good little collection started there. With grab bags it can take a little time to find a good trade but be patient and hopefully you can find a colt you would love to trade for unless you decide to keep yours if it grow on you. I am still waiting for mine and my mom’s colts to get here hopefully by Fri. or maybe Mon. depending if they made it through customs or not. That is awesome you get to visit Japan! It is for a vacation or what kind of trip will it be? I have never been anywhere in Asia but would love to travel and see more of the world when I am able to.
Looking for rainbow or pink & teal grab bags!

Glad to know that I am not the only one who was late with an introduction. Thanks and it is, just doesn’t seem real. Funny how we both turned to Windstone when we had something tragic happen. I’m also pretty active over on Livejournal.com and I have met many people who suffer from anxiety and depression issues as well. It helps to know you are not alone. I had a big nervous breakdown after a break-up happened to me. The break-up was part of it, but not all. That was roughly 10 years ago now?! Yes, I’m fortunate to have met Rodney and to own my menagerie of animals. I just saw the thread with your rescue kitties this morning, I love the coloring of the mother. My Mom has an African Grey, Felix is her name. I once owned Rats too, they make such awesome pets. Not only was I in charge of the reptile department in my Mom’s pet store, but the rodents too. I don;t think I mentioned the 3 Windstone pieces I got from a store that went out of business? They also gave me a cardboard poster that says “Pena,” on one side is the Circle of Cats Candle Holder and the other side, an up close of the Wizard Cat’s face. My GB Colt is growing on me, LOL!! I do like Ladybugs and I love the res eyes my Colt has. Hope your Colt arrives soon, I could barely contain my excitement while I waited. I’m going to Japan, just to go. I really need to get away and clear my head…;)
