I have a couple of PYOs with the eyes already in. How do you protect the eyes from sprays like primer, Workable Fixatif, and other finishing sprays? Thanks! 🙂

you use drawing gum, a frisket or mask to cover them. They are laytex based liquid you spread on and then peel off later when you are done.

You can also remove the eyes, but that can be delicate.

Other than removing the eyes, what would be an option for those of us who are allergic to latex?

Okay, thanks! So, primer + layers of finishing spray won’t seal the latex to the eye?

I’ve trimmed masking tape to the size of the socket and used that to protect the eyes.

I was about to suggest this, too!

Thanks. I guess that’s about it for those of us with latex allergies.

Usa a small ball of Plastilene clay to press up against the eye. If the clay is fresh and sticky, you are golden. Take off the clay when finished, and throw away the used pieces.

You can buy it pretty cheaply at any craft store.
