She didn’t really give me any factors. I guess I’ll call her next week and see what she has to say before I cancel it. Maybe I will get lucky and she will come out on her own. Its not like I would be having her early if I did go thru with the induction since it is schduled on my due date.
January 11, 2008 at 1:44 am #654891🙂 We’re all excited for you! Give her a big kiss from your forum friends when she arrives! 😀
January 11, 2008 at 2:35 am #654892I think whatever you decide will be okay. Your doctor wouldn’t have suggested it if it wasn’t going to be sfe for you and the baby. Purplecat has some good points. That being said, my boys came 4 weeks early and I wasn’t allowed to do labor without an epidural, so I have nothing when it comes to pain, etc. My mom-in-law has been a labor and delivery nurse for 30 years and has delivered more babies than the doctors. She thinks that inducing would be okay if your doctor has offered it. She also says that with first babies it gives the medical people a little more control of the situation; but you have to be comfortable with the idea and if you’re fine with waiting a little longer, that’s okay too 😀 Don’t know if this helps…. Good luck!

January 11, 2008 at 3:43 am #654893I was induced one week past my due date. No reason other than I was tired of being pg. I wasn’t dialated at all.
So after 21 hours of labor and baby not dropping or progressing, we opted for the c-section.
I wish I could go back and undo it.
After that, c-sects all the way. So much easier! Better drugs too 😆January 11, 2008 at 4:22 am #654894My 2 cents, I would just wait, your body is gearing up and doing its job, so I’d wait it out until after your due date comes and goes. If she isn’t born by then, then I would consider inducing.
Also, whatever you do, tell them the only induction method you want is pictosin, nothing else. There is a pill they can use, but the side effects can be bad, since once it is used they can not stop labor, even if they need to, and I’ve read of several deaths, both mother and child. So if they are suggesting a pill that goes inside you to induce, tell them no.
Also, inducing when your body is already well along is pointless, unless you stay this way past your due date, and really doubt you will.
My second child was 5 days past her due date, but my body got it together and we had a normal labor, though she did pass her merconium while in utero, she didn’t inhale it at birth, so all was well.
Hang in there, she’s coming, any day now…besides she stayed in over the weekend just to make sure you got a kirin from me, the little stinker! But she isn’t gonna get past another weekend I don’t think!

January 11, 2008 at 4:40 am #654895I hope you are right Kyrin because I refuse to go back to work until she comes out lol. I’m gonna eat up my vacation time if she keeps this up.
January 11, 2008 at 6:05 am #654896Is is okay to induce if the baby hasn’t dropped yet? Ask you doctor that.
The body is a fun thing, everyone is different and who knows what is totally best for you since this is your first. I know that you want it over and you want to see that little girl eye to eye but in time. She’ll get here! 🙂
January 11, 2008 at 6:16 am #654897She has already dropped so I don’t know if that makes a difference or not.
January 11, 2008 at 11:04 am #654898My 2 cents….give your body a chance to do things naturally. If you need to induce, it’s always an option. Every woman is different….they had to break my water both times and both went over their due date. Just play it by ear, so to speak. We’re all here anxiously waiting with you! 😀
January 11, 2008 at 2:15 pm #654899I carried my first almost two weeks over and my second was a day early! 😉
January 11, 2008 at 3:23 pm #654900*hugs* I know this is stressful, hang in there. 🙂
January 11, 2008 at 5:47 pm #654901I still think Mother Nature knows best
What I can’t believe is it’s been 9 months already??
It seems like just yesterday you where telling us you where pregnant.I wish Prego spaghetti sauce would make shirts for Pregnant women. It would say “It’s Prego It’s In there” (their slogan) and have an arrow pointing down
Well I thought it was a cute idea anywayJanuary 11, 2008 at 8:26 pm #654902Dragon Master wrote:I still think Mother Nature knows best

I’ve never had a kid but my mom had 4. In order, I was 2 weeks early, my brother a week early, next brother on time, sister week late. Mom always thought that was funny.
January 12, 2008 at 1:17 am #654903When we had our daughter my wife had to be induced. She was dialated at 4 cm’s for 2 weeks and the doc did everything he could to get her to go into labor, but nothing worked. She had an epidural and the pitoscin. The bad thing was that it did make her contractions come almost one on top of the other without much of a break between. The good thing was that it sped up her delivery. We went in at 7am, the doc broke her water at 8am and Alyssa was born shortly after noon. I don’t know if this is typical or not.
Not sure if this helped, but I’m kinda with the majority on this, wait at least until your due date to see if things work out naturally and if not, then schedule. Good luck!!January 12, 2008 at 1:52 am #654904How are you feeling Purpledoggy?
I can’t give any advice since I had my son at 29 weeks and he was premature. But you should let your body decide for you unless you are overdue. Good luck and I hope all goes well for you. -
