We all need to remember that Windstone is a BUSINESS. They have gone overboard to try to be as fair as possible to as many people as possible; but they need to make money in order to STAY in business.
Do you know of any other business that spends so much time (and time is also money) to keep their customers happy? Any other company would just put their product out there and be done with it … and let the bodies fall where they may.

I agree with you, and I always keep that in mind when I make suggestions (like the 1 per order rule). The thing with this particular product is that they are SO wildly popular with their most loyal customers that no matter what the limit, the WILL sell out and they will sell out fast.
It is worth it to Windstone (as in, more money for them because of happier, returning customers) to implement these rules in order to allow all of their customers to get a piece of the action. This makes people happy, and makes them more inclined to come back for more!
So although I agree with you – many companies would not do this for their customers – I had to point this out, and the fact that Windstones are very much a niche product – they’re not Iphones or cutlery, things that any Tom Dick and Harry would think about buying off the street. It is more essential for them to go a little out of their way to make everyone happy than it would be for another company that sells different things.
I’m not saying this to disagree with you, just to add some perspective as to why they are so willing to go out of their way to make us happy – and they’re darn smart for doing it!

*sigh* Again, I’m not pointing any fingers because personally… I don’t care as much about Unicorns as some other collectors do… (don’t get me wrong, I do like them, but I don’t need an army of them, just a few of my favorites would keep me happy…but I’m rambling now are’t I?) Back on topic, if this happened with Grab Bag Poads (if they ever existed anyway) I’d probably be making a stink over it myself if I thought some people were double dipping by creating additional accounts and I missed out because of someone else getting more then their fair share.

Windstone went to great lengths to please their customers even when their business was booming, they employed dozens of people, money was rollin’, and they easily could ‘afford’ to loose collectors! This is nothing new. It’s just in a new format (online) so it’s easier for the public to see, now.

My paypal account got hacked a couple of months ago, and it’s still a mess…I’ve been calling every day to both their customer service and my bank to get things straightened out and I’m still having problems. So I can only send e-checks right now, which take about a week to process. Or if I didn’t have a paypal account at all, but I have the money and need to send a money order, do I get left out of the pre-order??
It doesn’t seem as if my idea is going to fly but I was figuring however they accepted payment now would be acceptable for the preorders. I know they accept money orders – is there a time limit as to how soon a person has to send it? I guess I figured if a MO had to be there in, say two weeks then the same would apply for the preorders. If the payment didn’t arrive in a timely fashion then the order would be cancelled. Again I just want to point out that this is merely what I was thinking (when I was trying to figure out if it could even work) and it doesn’t appear as if the idea is at all practical for Windstone to adopt. My emphasis on payment in full was to distinguish it from suggestions in the past about possible preorders with down payments. I just thought that having payments in full would require a lot less tracking and paperwork Susie works hard enough now! I in no way was trying to be unfair to anyone in making the suggestion.

Now I’m just picturing little dragons squabbling on the eye station table, hang tags flying, dixie cups of eyeballs tossed over…
