Can live without the save and view unanswered posts, friends/foes. :nea:
Can’t live without smilies, view new posts (shame on you Pam. :spank: 😉 ) advanced search, and preview. :yes:September 1, 2010 at 6:50 pm #825830I use the save button a lot! When I get valuable information from other forum members, ie, how to do things I don’t know how to do, answers to questions, history on Windstone items, I save it and refer back to it. Please don’t take that away! Otherwise I would have to write it all out and file it somewhere and probably lose it!!
I really like the smiles too. It seems that there is enough room for more of them! I use the PMs too. I will pay attention to this and maybe add some more later!September 1, 2010 at 9:45 pm #825831dragonmedley wrote:We have a friend foe section? See, that’s something I can live without! The save button too… I think I’ve pressed it by accident thinking I’d be clicking Preview.
I couldn’t do without the view new posts, the preview feature, the search stuff (in the member profile, view posts by this member can be useful to know if someone’s been active). While I don’t use them, having the option to turn on and off some of the codes and whatnot could be useful to techier people. Having signatures is a great thing too. The auto-logon is just the best thing. The preview function is a life saver at times. Um, what else? There are a lot of nifty things available that are useful, just once in a while.
Ditto for me. 😀
September 1, 2010 at 11:48 pm #825832what does the friend or foe thing actually do, I’ve seen it but didn’t know what it did..
now if you could block certain people from contacting you, or if you could block any post that person made (so basically you didn’t have to read things you weren’t interested in) then that would be cool
I personally really like the mark posts/forums read button.. because after I scan over the new topics and there’s nothing I want to read I click that button and move on..
I do like that forums with new posts show up in a different color so you know where to look.. I also think we should have something that just removes topics that are over a certain age, because people don’t really go back and look anyway.. they just post new questions..
September 2, 2010 at 12:20 am #825833I like the search option (although I’ve never used advanced search), private messaging, user icons, user sigs/sig pics, quoting, the preview function…
I don’t like smilies. >.>; They’re creepy. I’m just as happy with text/punctuation faces, but smilies appear when I make them, so…I leave them on so I know what everyone else is seeing when I type. Have never used ‘save’. Pretty much everything I listed above is all I’ve ever used.
September 2, 2010 at 2:28 am #825834Can’t live without: Pms, Preview post, Edit post, Gallery, Avatars, Search and Advanced Search, Members list,
Wouldn’t mind if gone: Friend or Foe, Unanswered Posts, Save feature (didn’t know we had, so I won’t miss it)
I’m sure I’ll think of more to add…

If the friend/foe function here works like it does on another forum I’m on (which it should since they are both “Powered by phpBB”) then the foe list is exactly what you are looking for. On the other forum if you “foe” someone, then when they post, and you are logged in, their post shows up with a note that says something like “Post made by someone on your foe list. Click here to read it.” Unless you click that link (or look at the topic review down at the bottom when you are posting) you won’t see it. (Actually sometimes even if you click the link you still can’t read it due to a glitch somewhere.) I think the PMs there are set up a little differently because you can create “rules” as to what happens to the PMs (put it in X folder, delete if from X user, et cetera).September 2, 2010 at 2:54 pm #825837frozendragon wrote:what does the friend or foe thing actually do, I’ve seen it but didn’t know what it did..

I hope that old topics don’t get deleted; or if they do, that we have a searchable archive of them. I search them all the time for information and finding out dates for things.

an archive would be good..
September 2, 2010 at 5:51 pm #825839I look at old topics sometimes.
September 2, 2010 at 6:30 pm #825840I refer back to old topics often. It’s why I want to keep the Search and Advanced Search feature. However, I can understand if Windstone wanted to delete some of the old threads that serve little purpose. Not sure we all agree on what threads have a purpose or not, though. 😕
And the Foe list is what Pegasi stated. The Foe’s post is replaced with a line that states: “This post was made by XXX who is currently on your ignore list. Display this post”, with “Display this Post” linked if you want to read what they wrote.
September 2, 2010 at 9:42 pm #825841If someone was so annoying or offensive that a person would want to completely block any post they made, I can’t imagine that the blocked person would be around much longer anyway (if they were posting offensive things all the time they would get banned, right?).

Anything else search related

Breadcrumb nav

Auto login
Board prefs
Topic review when posting
“Location” under people’s names
Avatar and siggy pic, siggy text, anything else under the profile tab
Do basic posting functions count, like polls and images?
Seeing who else is online–ok, might be able to live without it but it’s helpful sometimesThings I CAN live without:
Save post function
Code and list tags when posting
Options to turn off bbcode, smilies, url parsing, and sig when posting
“View unanswered posts/View new posts/View active topics/Mark forums read”
Invisible login
“Friends & foes”
Usergroups??
“Display posts from previous”, “Sort by”, and “Jump to” underneath threads
Option to delete board cookies
Might be able to live without basic font options when posting (color, size, bold, underline, etc)
Maybe button to unsub from a thread that’s under the threads I’m sub’d to, since I can unsub directly from the reply notification emails I get
Everything else
I agree with Pam on most accounts but two:
Invisible login is useful when you know you can’t be on long and won’t be able to aswer PM’s right away or chat.
I can’t live without basic font options when posting (color, size, bold, underline, etc when posting in the eBay sale thread.) 😉September 3, 2010 at 12:28 am #825843Lokie wrote:I refer back to the ignore list often.
This was suppose to read: “I refer back to old topics often.” Oops 😆
Anyways, I use “view active topics” a lot. I don’t read all the new threads/posts that I have an interest in every time I log on, and it’s nice to be able to browse those slightly older threads/post when I have the time without going through all the sub-forums individually.
