Hi folks!
Two very important questions. Please answer them if you have the time!1. What parts of the forum (other than the obvious, such as having an account, being able to post, etc) can you NOT LIVE WITHOUT?
An example answer: I’d be lost without the advanced search option! I like to look up specific information from years ago.2. What parts of the forum do you RARELY or NEVER use or access? I’m not talking about topics, but actual forum features.
An example answer: I never use the ‘save’ function when writing a new forum post. I don’t even remember that it’s there!Thank you everyone!!

My art: featherdust.comSeptember 1, 2010 at 1:47 am #8258161. Uhhh…. The member search function I guess. I don’t use it all that often, but I do like having it.
2. There’s a save function?! 😆 Yeah, can’t really see myself ever using that. Either I post something right away or not at all.
September 1, 2010 at 1:52 am #825817I guess it’s the same here. I love being able to search items (even if it’s hard to find the right searchwords sometimes). And I had no idea there was a “Save” function. Guess it’s a nice thing to have, but since I’ve never used it, I can’t say that I would miss it.
September 1, 2010 at 1:53 am #825818AnonymousI think you could get rid of the date Joined underneath people’s icons; it only confused me for my first six months – thinking that’s the date of the post I was reading LOL
I’m not good at this –
I could live without the save function too; never used it.
I like having the smilies and being able to post pictures.
September 1, 2010 at 2:19 am #825819I can’t live without the smilies! 😀 😈 8) :yum: :puke:
And the “View New Posts”. It’s basically the only thing I check everyday.
September 1, 2010 at 2:50 am #825820Totally can’t live without smilies! And I REALLY like the search/advanced search options – I can’t think of how often I want to find something I saw 6 months ago.
I don’t save posts…. ever. I could do without that.
Although – I will say that I do like how this forum is set up as it is… I know, no help at all. 🙂
September 1, 2010 at 3:02 am #825821I dont find the “friends and foes” feature to be useful… I’ve never used the save function either. I never use the “view unanswered posts” feature either.
September 1, 2010 at 3:11 am #825822Things I can’t live without:
Private messages
Advanced search and search within topic
Member search??
Anything else search related
Topic subscriptions
Breadcrumb nav
Smilies
Black/grey background
Auto login
Board prefs
Topic review when posting
“Location” under people’s names
Avatar and siggy pic, siggy text, anything else under the profile tab
Do basic posting functions count, like polls and images?
Seeing who else is online–ok, might be able to live without it but it’s helpful sometimesThings I CAN live without:
Save post function
Code and list tags when posting
Options to turn off bbcode, smilies, url parsing, and sig when posting
“View unanswered posts/View new posts/View active topics/Mark forums read”
Invisible login
“Friends & foes”
Usergroups??
“Display posts from previous”, “Sort by”, and “Jump to” underneath threads
Option to delete board cookies
Might be able to live without basic font options when posting (color, size, bold, underline, etc)
Maybe button to unsub from a thread that’s under the threads I’m sub’d to, since I can unsub directly from the reply notification emails I get
Everything elseSeptember 1, 2010 at 3:17 am #825823I have used the save function (once). I wouldn’t expect to use it often. I don’t use “friends and foes” or “view unanswered posts”, do like the search features. I haven’t been doing this long enough to really know the site so I can probably adapt to changes without much trouble. I’m agnostic on the smiles … I would be happy with or without them.

September 1, 2010 at 3:33 am #825825I can’t live without the “view new posts” option – otherwise I’d have to parse through every topic to see what’s new.
Also love the private messaging, and the smilies – though I’d like *more* smiley options (like one for begging/pleading, one for “thank you”, a head-scratcher, etc – and an eye-roll that’s just an eye-roll, not quite so strong as banging-your-head-into-the-wall). Also, I like being able to see what I’m replying to at the bottom of the screen, that’s cool.I CAN live without the save function (I too didn’t know it was there), the disabling and parsing options at the bottom.
September 1, 2010 at 3:33 am #825826Well, you know, some people are just NO FUN. I mean me, of course, not you!
September 1, 2010 at 3:48 am #825827I can’t live without most everything on here LOL! But as far as what I CAN live without, I’d have to say the ‘save’ function and the Friends and Foes section. In fact I’ve never used either one of those. If I can think of anything else I’ll come back and edit this!
September 1, 2010 at 12:46 pm #825828We have a friend foe section? See, that’s something I can live without! The save button too… I think I’ve pressed it by accident thinking I’d be clicking Preview.
I couldn’t do without the view new posts, the preview feature, the search stuff (in the member profile, view posts by this member can be useful to know if someone’s been active). While I don’t use them, having the option to turn on and off some of the codes and whatnot could be useful to techier people. Having signatures is a great thing too. The auto-logon is just the best thing. The preview function is a life saver at times. Um, what else? There are a lot of nifty things available that are useful, just once in a while.
