I’m pretty sure it’s a rabbit. You can tell that the picture has been photoshopped.
I don’t know what you are talking about. That is, in fact, a real breed of rabbit. It’s the elusive Chupacabra cuniculus. 😆September 5, 2009 at 6:35 pm #780900all right, let’s see if I got this right. Here are just a handfull of my babies:
First up is Brea, a female Plumhead Parakeet on right
Here is a close up of her mate, Blinky
My older dog Percy a Pom mix–he is 13-1/2 years old–he was about 3 in this picture
Next is Tristan an Italian Greyhound who is almost 3-1/2
Here is my favorite picture of them together–oh by the way, they have popcorn paws heehee!
Here is Apple a male Pineapple Greencheek Conure
This is Figaro a male Rosella Parakeet
Here is BeBe my female Eclectus Parrot and the largest of my birds (in the background is Alfie, a Princess of Whales parakeet–his tail is 13 inches long)
BeBe’s bath time–I’m painting a griff pyo like her–hope I can get the coloring for those feathers right–they’re beautiful
BeBe’s belly–very hand friendly bird but you have to move slow with an Eclectus–they don’t like sudden movement
That’s a samploing folks of just a handful of citters that share my life. Has the site crashed yet HeeHee!
September 6, 2009 at 5:41 am #780901Ohh Tristan is adorable…and your birds are really pretty.. 🙂

September 6, 2009 at 9:00 pm #780902Wow, everyone here has such beautiful/cute pets!! Crimson, I LOVE your Freisan…for a long time Ive wanted a big black furry footed horse-I’d name him Apollo-that name sounds so dark and powerful 🙂
ladyfirebird-your birds are gorgeous! Personally I only like birds when they’re someone eles’s pet 😀 but yours are like they flew through a rainbow ^_^
September 6, 2009 at 10:12 pm #780903I’ve got 3 cats and a Husky-I just snapped some adorable pictures of 2 of my cats (who are brother and sister ^_^) but right before I hit upload, my camera battery died 🙁
Here are the ones I have:
Goblin, my lil Russian Blue
She came to me when I was delivering pizzas. There was a complex that has tons of stray cats-but few ever come up to you. Just watch you from a safe distance. This little grey cat came up to me and started rubbing against my feet. I scratched her head, and she followed me through the complex, up the stairs, down the stairs…I told her “Allright cat…if you follow me to my car, you’re coming home with me” the rest is history 🙂 She’s been the best cat though!
My 9 year old husky, Roxie
And my sibling kitties that my boyfriend and I adopted from the SPCA
Sunshine:
and Sunshine and his sister, Chloe playing with a toy
September 7, 2009 at 2:31 am #780904Wolfen, I love the story about Goblin–somnetimes the best pets are the ones that choose YOU! He’s a beautiful cat as well! It’s so interesting to see the variety of critters that share our lives! Some of us collect pets like we do Windstones–uh, almost! 😀
Crismon, I love the pictures of Max! So sad to have to give him up–can’t imagine what that would be like for me to give up one of my babies! Seems like Windstones and critters are the two most common thing we all have on this forum! 😀
September 9, 2009 at 3:38 pm #780905Horray, another member owned by parrots!
Here are my ‘kids’:
They all have stories.Khu, the bronze-winged pionus… in the middle of a yawn:
Khu had a rough start in life. She was taken from her parents and the breeder she was born at and taken to Kaytee’s facility in Florida. They supply all Petsmarts with their birds. The facility is clean and with a vet on hand– no arguments there. But they provide no socialization or interaction for the parrots– some of which are thought to have comparable intelligence to a human toddler. Imagine not interacting with a toddler for the first year of it’s life– no other birds, no human interaction. That’s what happened with Khu. Well, as our store’s live animal manager I got a sheet with ‘special needs’ parrots that they didn’t want to sell to the public because they were socially, emotionally and/or physically handicapped. The list was appalling and long- most of the birds were cockatoos and african greys. There was a few pionus on the list and it was heart wrenching knowing that I could only afford to rescue one bird. So Khu came home with me.
Because of her rough start, she has extreme separation anxiety and chews her feathers off if I leave the house (or sometimes the room). She’s gradually getting better but she’ll probably never be over it! And she can live to be 50.
Using one of her own feathers to scratch her head.
Here’s Gorbash. He’s a Maximillian pionus, and he’s “asking” me for a bath.
Gorbash is another rescue. While at a fair buying some bird supplies, I noticed a man with a Maximillian Pionus out. This was unusual as they are not very common. I went over to visit with the bird because I love them, and the man told me that he was getting rid of him because he ‘wouldn’t breed’ with the females. This poor bird was very sweet and wanted his head rubbed. My heart went out– throwing away this sweet guy just because he wouldn’t mate with the females to produce more birds when there are so many in rescue shelters already– nngh. It made me angry. So I took Gorbash home. It turns out that he’s over 60% blind due to cysts in his iris. He can’t see well at all, and yet he’s not jumpy- he’s so mellow and nice. He also has a few other health problems. But, if he head been bred as was the intention- he would have probably passed these problems onto his offspring. How irresponsible of the man! He probably never once had Gorbash to a vet. By the way, he hadn’t even named him… so we named him Gorbash after the green dragon.
This is Zephyr, the cinnamon (grey) cockatiel, and Orphan, the lutino pied (yellow):
You want to hear some sad stories! Orphan was dropped off in front of the store I worked at in the freezing weather overnight. She huddled in a cage too small even for the tiniest finch, for who knows how long, outside in the January cold. We found her when we went to open the store up for business the next day and took her in. There was a note on her cage “new baby- can’t keep the bird”…. so typical.
I had to use wire cutters to get her out of the tiny cage– the doors on it were so small and rusted shut that there was no way to take her our normally. The cage was so filthy and devoid of food and water, I have no idea how long she was like that. Her face was crusted with debris, so I cleaned her up. Despite her very obvious neglect, she was the sweetest bird! This bird didn’t know how to bite it seemed. She was patient and loving.
I took her to the vet at my expense and found out, to no surprise, that she was unhealthy. She was fatty, probably from being fed a seed diet her whole life… which is sort of like feeding someone nothing but McDonalds. Fatty and devoid of many nutrients. I changed her diet, but she was always her whole life short of breath when she flew. I already had a few birds at this point and very little income (minimum wage job, supporting myself and my ex!) so I looked for someone to adopt her. Someone up in NY wanted her, and agreed to pay the air fare to fly her up. So I got on a plane and took Orphan with me. It cost me $200 just for the air fare for the bird (not including mine, since I was going to visit my parents anyhow) and another 150 for the vet certificate that I needed to board the plane with. I got to NY and the lady wouldn’t return my calls. I was horrified– finally I got an email saying that she didn’t want the bird after all. I ate the expense of transporting her, and what’s worse– I literally couldn’t afford to fly her back with me!! Luckily, my very kind parents offered to keep her there until I could afford to get her back. It took me a year, but I finally got Orphan back. At this point she had been orphaned so many times that her name, Orphan, stuck.
She was very sweet, and she passed away this last January in her sleep. I miss her very much.Zephyr’s story is a bit shorter. She was also a rescue that I snatched up after I saw a girl literally pull her tail out!! Poor Zephyr is very distrusting of people unless she gets to know them. Once she does, all she wants is to sit on your knee and be petted on. She’s a real funny bird, and very smart for a cockatiel.
This is Jenna. She’s a red Husky.
She was abandoned, and we assume abused because she always flinches if someone moves a hand too fast, and she’ll run if you pick up any stick-like object. She’s a family pet and she’s very intelligent and ridiculously funny.
This is my buddy, Nikki. He’s a mutt… thought to be German Shepherd + Husky.
This is an old photo. I am a teenager here.
Nikki was also abandoned then adopted by us. He had a husky spirit in him- he loved to pull things. We would set my father’s 900lb. ATV to neutral and let him pull it across the fields where we would camp. Nik is dying from Lymphoma right now and it breaks my heart…

My art: featherdust.comSeptember 9, 2009 at 4:12 pm #780906Awww Nam you have such gorgeous critters! I love your red husky. She’s so beautiful-and looks very cunning 😉 Huskies are a breed that their owners should really research and look into before adopting-but not everyone does and it breaks my heart. A house I used to deliver pizza to had a husky they said they found by the side of the road 😥 Its terrible to think there are people out there who would dump such an intelligent and beautiful creature and let it go. People abandon their 8 year old kids, they get sent to prison. Someone abandons their 2 year old dog-no one says anything. 😡
But on the other hand, its a good thing there are people like the folks on the forum to care for those abandoned animalsSeptember 9, 2009 at 5:03 pm #780907I love everyones pics! 🙂 Thought I would post a few more.

September 9, 2009 at 8:29 pm #780908Oh Jenn your birds are so beautiful!! It made me so happy to read their rescue stories. I’ve always wanted a bird but I don’t think that will be for years 🙂
How about your fish?

LOLOL! He probably does think it’s the food channel! 😉
Wanted to share two pics of Neko, my Hubby’s first cat. Check out his face; he almost has the ‘yin yang’ symbol on his nose.
September 10, 2009 at 9:09 pm #780912Here’s my little goober! She’s so cute. 😀
I caught her during one of those “dreamy gaze” moments here. =)
