If you want, I have more photos of this area as I frequently went there when I lived in TX…

Nambroth, that photos been in your gallery for a while, right? I was going insane because I recongized “Reach” but didn’t want to check your gallery because I wanted to be suprised (since I wasn’t 100% certain that’s where I saw it). Anyways, all your photographs are lovely 😀

It takes a measure of courage to put your art in front of everyone to be voted on..all the pyo artist here know exactly what I mean..so way to go to all those who entered and a big CONGRATS to Nam…its a superb shot that actually evokes emotion and that is what art is all about…very well done!!

Mine was “Tufted tit” I don’t recall when I shot it but it was sometime in Feb and very cold out.

          I used:

          Canon 350d(digital rebel xt) camera
          18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Canon lens
about 8 foot away handholding using manual focus
          55mm at f/5.6
          exposure 1/250th of a second

I usually use a 75-300mm f4-5.6 IS for birds but was out shooting something else and luckily got close enough to use the 55mm. I did use Photoshop for crop and position..but nothing else added.

8 feet away!? Wow you must be bird-trusted, to get that close. That shot is Audubon material, by the way;…very crisp! I’ll view your others later,(lunch break).

I very much would also like to see data :
            Source.
            Location.
            Camera.
            Lense.
            Distance.
            Settings or Computer / auto.
            How much Photo-Shop enhancement.
            What you were thinking;…theme.
( not required, but I am interested.)

Marshland was mine, and although I can understand why GB thought of this title, it is nowhere near any marshland 😀

Those feathered stalks (I don’t know what they’re called) actually grow everywhere there’s even a little bit of water, so this particular bunch was growing in a ditch in front of a corn field. It was taken last fall so all the corn had been harvested, but you can still see a little bit of the stalks to the right of the picture. It was on a very dark and rainy day late in the afternoon. The rain had stopped and the sun suddenly peaked from between 2 clouds and we got that extraordinary light like everything was on fire!

As for the technical details, I’m afraid I can’t help you much there 🙁 We were fooling around with my dad’s new camera and about all I can tell you is that it’s a Canon. And the photo has not been manipulated in any way, I couldn’t do that to save my life 😆

I guess it’s a case of right place, right time, dumb luck kind of thing.

I liked your photo a lot! I had a hard time deciding between yours and Nam’s.

Me too!!! It was real touch and go between “Reach” and “Marshland”!!! Great job LIH!! 😀
