I’m usually very open minded about music, my tastes are very eclectic, but I grew up listening to nothing but country music- its all my mom ever listened to and it always grated on me. I was even dragged to a George Strait concert when I was a kid. And I lived in the boonies for a long time too so I was around cowboys all the time (not fun)- I just cant listen to it, even if it sounds new or not as country because it makes me think of the other stuff.
But I dont think anything of other people liking it/listening to it (as long as they dont play it around me lol)

December 14, 2007 at 3:14 am #644597Major pet peeve: ANIMAL HOARDERS!
Ok, Ok, I know they now think animal hoarding is a form of OCD and thus a mental illness so I should feel sorry for the person (and I do, to a degree. They can’t really help themselves and are devestated when the animals are taken away). But the poor animals.
They just cleared out a home of 120 animals here last night. Mostly cats but some dogs, 12 birds, 8 guinea pigs, rabbits and 7 chinchillas. Actually, for a household that large most of the animals I saw were in pretty good shape – 5 Cornish rex cats, the guinea pigs and the chins. Although the cages for the pigs and the chins were disgusting the animals themselves were in pretty decent shape.
I know a couple of other people here have rexes. Can you imagine the poor rexes with all those other cats? Rexes need a ton of attention to be happy – they like to sleep with their owners. Or as least all of the ones I’ve had liked to sleep with me.
Anyone in NJ want a chinchilla? I have seven. 😉 😆
December 14, 2007 at 5:57 am #644598People who leave their children unattended in a hot car while they run inside some store “for just a minute”. 👿
People who leave their pets in a hot/cold car while they are at work/partying/whatever. 👿
People who smoke while fueling their cars. 🙄
People who jump into the middle of an overheard conversation, think they know what your talking about, and try to take over the whole topic. 🙄
When they hang the 8’s upsidedown on any sign… 😳
Those who refuse to learn to say somebody’s name the way it’s supposed to be said. (Then have the nerve to get mad when they are corrected!) 😛
Speakerphones… 👿
People who look at their cell phones (with the ringers turned up to 80) while the stupid thing is ringing, who refuse to believe that you can silence the ringer without disconnecting the call. 😯
Parents who let their kids dive into the 3 foot deep pools at hotels. 😡
People who want me to help them move because I own a truck! 😆
Walking (crawling) into an ER covered in blood and broken glass, and having some idiot ask if you need help! WELL, DUH!!! (No, I’m here to pick up a pizza, you MORON…) Turn off the damn TV and help my friend before he bleeds to death!!! 😯 😡 (personal experience–plate glass door shattered… ICK!)
People who walk out of a movie and tell the whole line waiting to see it what just happened. 👿
People who see you reading a book and spoil the ending. 😡
People who talk through the movie you’re trying to watch because they think they know all the lines! 🙄
Anyone who coughs or sneezes on me deliberately. 👿
Alarm clocks!!! 😈
And, tons of the things many of you already posted. 😀

I do think that 10 or 12 would be better off in your house than on the street, even if they dont get lots of attention, but 30? 50? 100?? Thats just sad. I know they are trying to help… I feel like a hoarder sometimes just because I want to take them all in… but I know I cant. I am scared that if I had a big yard, I would hoard.
December 14, 2007 at 5:54 pm #644600Oh, sorry, I don’t consider 12 or 13 to be hoarding (probably because at one point I had 12 ferrets – 2 were bought and 10 were rescues/abandoned ones). I guess it is hard to say what is too many – for some people 1 animal is too much while other people have 20 and do fine. But 120? Clearly too many. Neighbors had complained about the stench. And the owners are being fined for neglect.
Saw the story in the paper – there were 3 ferrets too but they got adopted.
December 14, 2007 at 6:56 pm #644601Whoo boy. I have quite a few pet peeves.
As an artist, it really, REALLY hacks me off when people tell me I should “do” something in my art. My typical reaction is to tell someone to go take a long walk off a short pier unless I consider them to be a colleague, or better than me.
Another pet peeve of mine is political correctness. I am totally not politically correct, and I tend to not only step on, but trample people’s toes that are. Honestly, if you can’t laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at?
My biggest, and absolute worst pet peeve is something I call the “Bambi” reaction. I got no problems going out and killing my dinner – actually, I think people who want to eat meat should be forced at some point to kill what they eat, so they don’t loose that connection to where thier food comes from. As it is, I have no problem going out and killing a deer to eat, and given a choice, I prefer doe meat to buck meat. This almost always gets the reaction “You would shoot Bambi’s mom?” from folks. Well, here’s the truth of the matter about deer. Hunting season is during the fall – six months after fawns are born – by that time they are weaned, and more than able to fend for themselves, even if they do hang around mom for a while after. Doe hunts are all but banned here in California, and in some places (Angel Island) the deer are literally starving because there’s just too many of them for an area to support – this is going on on the east coast with white-tail deer as well. The best way to manage a population of deer is to hunt the females – a single buck can impregnate as many does as he can, but you start reducing the number of females, and fewer babies are born, thus managing the population better. Andin the case of white-tail s this is good. Because white tails can breed at six months of age, and often throw twins.
…*steps off her soap box*
…so, yeah. Pet peeves.
December 14, 2007 at 6:59 pm #644602I think 20 dogs or cats is too many (for me). I have one cat and my place can still smell a bit. I was jsut teasing about the 10 or 12 dogs… though for me, in my place, that would be excessive. I suppose if you have more room, more pets would be fine.
December 14, 2007 at 7:11 pm #644603hmm our neighbor has 6 dogs….they are not little at all….and you can’t go outside at all without them all coming and barking at you….it’s very annoying…
but the worst part is you can’t go outside at all in the summer time….for one the constant barking if you go out…but also….because you can’t breath at all from the stink of dog poop….
they are poop factories….ugh…so nasty…
and the limit of dogs in the city is 3….but they get away with it…I haven’t called the local ASPCA yet….but I so want to….bad neighbors….grrr

why don’t you tell us how you REALLY feel???
heheheheI totally agree with the animal horders though. A Lady on Oprah had like 75 cats in her house and they said that even though she was trying to help she was in fact hurting them because they became very territorial over the litle amount of space they had and turned worse then any Ferel cat you can imagine. They turned over 1 sofa and there where about 2 dozen hiding in it
December 14, 2007 at 7:51 pm #644605I could see myslelf with 6 dogs. I would certainly pick up the poop though. Yuk… yard poop is nasty!

December 16, 2007 at 6:42 pm #644607Here are a few of mine:
1) People who let their kids run crazy around restaurants and stores. This was already mentioned several times, but I really hate when parents let this happen. Put a leash on those little monsters!
2) Drivers who are in such a hurry to pull out in front of you… when there is nobody behind you for a mile. And they just end up driving ultra slow. It’s like, thanks a lot buddy! That really burns my @$$! 😡
3) People who go to nice restuarants, where the food is amazing… and just complain the whole time to the waiter about how bad the food and drinks are. They just want to get a free meal! If you can’t afford to eat there… then don’t go! I feel so bad for the waiters that have to deal with that kinda crap.
4) People who park next to you so close, that you can’t get in your car.
5) Kids that constantly kick the back of my seat on an airplane.
6) People that don’t cover their mouths when they sneeze or cough. C’mon… have some frickin consideration for those around you!
7) People (mostly old ladies) who argue with the cashier at the grocery store because they didn’t get an extra 4 cents off something. This especially ticks me off when I’m waiting behind them with a tub of ice cream… beacause it’s starting to melt!!! 😡 My husband hates this too. He actually offered a lady one time his couple pennies just so she would leave.
Okay, this all I can think of off the top of my head right now. I know there are many others though. A LOT of stuff gets on my nerves. 😆
December 16, 2007 at 11:05 pm #644608People who can look at the old art works of naked ladies, from the 17 – 18 hundreds when women were expected to be curvy and even have a little tummy, think the women are beautiful and then turn and look at woman from today who looks like that and ask why she’s fat 👿
