Fail her Emerald. Another fine example of people who want things handed to them. As you have already probably decided, dont be lenient next time. As my BF says… there is a standard. You either meet it or you dont. If you dont, then you fail. Dont just give these kids what others in the class have to work for. 🙂 STICK TO YOUR GUNS GIRL!! Dang… I am peeved now, too.
Ditto!
Ditto ditto 😀
And I am a student. I hate it when other students who don’t put in the time and effort in a class that I do wind up getting the same or a better grade in the class simply because either A) they know the teacher or B) the teacher doesn’t care enough to flunk the student. You get what you put into a class. And if you flunk it, you learn from it.There were two girls that didn’t turn in their papers on Monday (this girl being one of them), so I sent them both an email, telling them to put their papers in my mailbox before the next morning, and I will only give them a late deduction. Both papers were there the next day. And she turned in her previous assignment too. Her writing has improved a great deal, so I just penalized her for missing a bunch of classes, turning in papers late, etc. She ended up with a C+ for the class.
I had another girl (who was doing very well in the class) cut and paste stuff from the internet into her paper without quotation marks and citations. Just like it was her own words. She got a zero for the paper and went from a possible A to a D+ for the class. I don’t tolerate that sort of plagiarism.
I still have 15 papers to grade before 3:00 tomorrow afternoon. *sigh* I hate this part.

Yup. 😆
Totally agree.
I nearly killed my own sister. When my niece was a teenager she had pneumonia so she was in one part of the kitchen doing a nebulizing treatment and my sister “was on the other side” smoking! 😯 Hello! Smoke travels. You think the fact that my niece was constantly exposed to 2nd hand smoke may have made it worse? My sis in law smoked while she was prego. After she had the kid, they made an agreement not to smoke in the house. Then it went to ‘not smoking in the same room as the baby.’ Then it was ‘they would’nt hold the baby while smoking.’ It eventually degenrated to ‘we wont flick ashes or put ciggaretes out on the baby.’ Kid has a weak immune system fo sho!
December 12, 2007 at 5:26 pm #644581Too bad we can’t pick our relatives….
Pet peeves with smoking:
People who throw cig butts on the ground especially on the beach. Or who throw them out the car windows. There have been people burned by a lit butt landing in their lap.
People who smoke right outside the entrance to a building so you have to walk through a cloud of smoke.

ditto. 🙂
December 12, 2007 at 6:49 pm #644583*shudders* I hate cigarette smoke. I hate having to hold my breath while trying to make my way into a building while people are smoking outside of it.

In CA we are suppoed to have a law that you can not smoke within 100 feet of the buildign entrance. Most here are good about it but a few have trouble especially when it rains
You also can’t smoke in any buildings here including barsDecember 12, 2007 at 7:44 pm #644585I must admit. I was a smoker. I quit 6 years ago and I still want to smoke. I actually love walking through the secondhand smoke 🙄
I just say this cause I realize how sad it is that cigarettes can alter your way of thinking so much that it becomes okay to smoke while you’re pregnant or around kids.
I feel sorry for people who smoke now. I was lucky that I got too sick to get out of bed and wasn’t able to go outside to smoke. After five days, I just kept telling myself I’ve gone 5 days, why start smoking now. Then it turned to 10 days, and now I’m at almost 7 years. The urge for me is still there.
I have nightmare where I start smoking telling myself just one won’t hurt. Then it turns to two. When I wake up, I’m so relieved I don’t have to quit again.December 12, 2007 at 8:16 pm #644586Illinois will be smoke free in all public buildings on January 1st 2008. It will be very nice. 😀
December 12, 2007 at 8:30 pm #644587I hate people that bring children into my store and don’t watch them even when they are destroying things right next to them! I also hate people that steal and people that tear open packages without asking. people that throw trash of any kind on the ground.

what do you sell in your store?? I have been wondering for some time but keep forgetting to ask what sort of store it is
December 12, 2007 at 11:46 pm #644589It’s exam season, so I’ll post a couple peeves I have with them.
* Annoying noises. There you are, writing a difficult exam in an echoing gym. You’re concentrating hard on writing out answers…and then it starts. People blowing bubblegum bubbles, someone sniffing every 10 seconds because they didn’t bother to bring tissue for their cold, tapping pens…you get the idea. Stuff you can’t control like coughing fits and even crying I understand, but damn it spit out the gum, blow your nose and STOP TAPPING THAT PEN!
* Only exam issue that ticks me off more: cheating. I wrote my first exam of the term last night, and two idiots got kicked out for cheating. This guy and girl cheated on the first midterm for the class but didn’t get caught, then they were separated during the second midterm because they were caught talking. Last night, right before the exam began, the adults overseeing the exam took study notes from the guy that he was trying to smuggle under his desk. Think he was smart enough to stop there? Of course not. They removed both him and the girl half-way through. They’ll be kicked out of university for certain this time. Honestly, how dumb can you be?! 👿
December 12, 2007 at 11:49 pm #644590Basically it’s a bead store. we have everything to make jewelry. We also have gift items. Native American stuff used to be popular but now it is the fantasy items i.e. Windstones.

I’m remembering a American Indian looking wolf shirt from one of the times you stopped in Windstone and you said it was from your store
December 13, 2007 at 1:04 am #644592Oh Ive got a few lol
Kids are pretty high on the list- disrespectful kids and the parents who dont discipline them. Ive seen kids tell their parents to shut up and the parent does nothing. And the other day I was in my favorite local mom-and-pop video store and someone came in with a couple little kids and told them ‘ok go play’. No! Its not a playhouse! Its a business and they shouldnt be running around screaming and knocking stuff off shelves. Oy.
(last one on kids lol) I live in a downstairs apartment and the kids upstairs are terrible- no one says anything to these kids- it sounds like they are jumping off furniture upstairs. It was so bad once that it actually knocked one of our glass light covers off of the ceiling and it fell and shattered into the bed where my husband and I were sleeping.Popping knuckles drives me crazy (any bones really- probably comes from working in a chiropractors office as a secretary for a while).
Sports commentators- they usually just spout the obvious and their noises are so annoying- they are always screaming.
90% if people on tv really, lol, espically the two guys who have hosted ‘The Planets Funniest Animals’, if I didnt have tivo and couldnt fast-forward their irritating ‘jokes’ and skits, I wouldnt watch the show at all.
Christmas stuff- its sad, but I really am a bit of a scrouge. When I was growing up with my mom we couldnt watch any movie that wasnt christmas related from thanksgiving till the end of the year. Most christmas music drives me nuts and I get tired of seeing how early the merchandise gets put out. I saw it out before halloween this year.
People who dont vote.
And finally, rap and country music. I have a very low tolerance for either.
/rant haha.
December 13, 2007 at 1:07 am #644593People who misplace things and then come to you asking for help finding it. Making you stop whatever you are in the middle of, and get up and go get it within 5 minutes. Look yourself. I didn’t put it there. 😛
