It’s people like that I want to stake out to an ant hill then do to them what they did to the animal 👿 👿 👿 (sorry, I’m really grumpy this morning 👿 )

December 11, 2007 at 3:24 pm #644535I believe you. Did reporting them do any good?
December 11, 2007 at 3:26 pm #644536They took the injured dog but left all the others, since TECHNICALLY the pup was the only abused animal. 👿 But I seriously doubt the pup survived…the smell near it was unspeakable.
December 11, 2007 at 3:29 pm #644537Poor thing. 🙁

I actually think Thats genius. The hair wont show on the furniture. So long as she treated them right, I dont see a problem with how she picked them. I was gonna pick a particular kitten cuz it matched my rabbit…Actually, she didn’t really interact with them other than to feed them…why have pets if you dont at least pet them? Weird…They were decorations to her. 😕 My animals are family.Geez… I dont want to offend here… I personally believe you are correct, however, there are alot worse owners out there, as shown by the rotty rotti story. There are many people out there who would call most of us bad pet owners for either having too many, having big pets inside, having wild animals (including the hybrids) as pets, and even for not feeding them “natural” diets. Goes to show that no matter what, you cant please everyone and everyones opinion of an animal being mistreated is gonna be different. 🙂

December 11, 2007 at 4:06 pm #644540I’m just mad at a student (and supervisor) right now. I don’t know if it can be categorized as a pet peeve, but I’m sure peeved now.
I taught class twice a week in one hour and forty minute class periods. There were around 28 of these. It’s English department policy that students can’t miss more than 20% of the class or they fail for non-attendance (FN). That equals 6 classes this semester. It’s in my syllabus (rules) that they can’t miss 6 classes or they’ll fail. This girl missed 8. After the sixth, she came to me and said she’d been in court for a parking ticket. She came and begged me to stay at 7. I was too lenient, but I told her she couldn’t miss another class. She missed 8. I emailed her and told her she failed my class and filed the FN grade. She went to my supervisor who suggested that I let her stay in the class. So I told her she could.
Now, she didn’t turn in her last two assignments and missed the last day of class. Without the last two assignments, she can’t pass my class anyway. Now I don’t know what to do. If he had just let me fail her when I wanted to, I wouldn’t have to deal with this crap now! So, do I give her the FN or an F for low points? Or do I let the absences go and spend my time trying to get the papers out of her? I feel like she’s walking all over me.
I’m so glad this semester is done, but I have to grade all the final papers yet. And I’m so mad that I don’t even want to look at them. I only have two days though, so I need to get on it.
Peeved? Yes, I’m peeved. Why can’t students just follow the rules and get stuff in on time?
December 11, 2007 at 4:14 pm #644541Fail her Emerald. Another fine example of people who want things handed to them. As you have already probably decided, dont be lenient next time. As my BF says… there is a standard. You either meet it or you dont. If you dont, then you fail. Dont just give these kids what others in the class have to work for. 🙂 STICK TO YOUR GUNS GIRL!! Dang… I am peeved now, too.
December 11, 2007 at 4:26 pm #644542FAIL HER! This is the real world and she’s got to learn to live in it. I know that sounds harsh, but if you were her employer you wouldn’t put up with that kind of behavior, would you? It’s called being responsible. Just my two cents… (and I woke up grumpy *sigh* sorry 🙄 )

December 11, 2007 at 4:33 pm #644543People who don’t stop for red lights or stop signs – FL is really bad about that

I felt this way before I worked in retail but now I really don’t like it, even when I’m not working and I’m just another customer in the store. Some salesclerks are not helpful and some can even be jerks too, but most are trying to do the best they can and being pissy does nothing. People seem to have this idea that if they make a fuss, they’ll get what they want faster, which is so selfish I could bite something.
Oh man! That’s a good one, one of mine too. As someone that was on the receiving end of crazy customers for YEARS, it horrifies me when people are unnecessarily rude or worse to customer service people / people working at stores etc. There are so many people that are selfish and feel entitled to throw a tantrum to get things how they want. The worst part is that there are a lot of people out there that would report a salesperson’s ‘shortcomings’ (even though most of the time it’s not the salesperson’s fault- they are probably bound by company rules and policies!!) to a manager or the parent company, and that puts said person’s livelihood at stake. I feel like screaming at those people, ‘by complaining over petty item X, you may be robbing that person of their grocery or rent money!’. I am of the strong opinion that most people need to live at both ends of the spectrum so that they can appreciate their lives. (this isn’t directed to anyone here!!) Live poor for a month. You’ll better understand both sides and hopefully have a far better appreciation for what they go though.
Hand in hand with the above: People that are given incorrect change (like $10 too much) and keep it. Mistakes happen and too many variances cost people their jobs, too. Be honest….is that $10 gonna make you rich?
The flip side: Cashiers that can’t make change without the register telling them the amount. 🙄

I had to keep a calculator at my register when I was a cashier, in case this happened. I cannot do math that quickly in my head. Especially under the stress of cashiering retail where you have to be quick to please the customer and keep your line flowing. I remember being frustrated when people would ask me how I ever made it out of school without being able to do math mentally under pressure. I graduated with honors! :/

I can’t do math in my head, either. 😕 At least you were smart enough to have a calculator handy. I carry one around with me. lol I’m not saying people can’t have limitations, just that they need to adjust for them. 😉

This is a huge one for me. There are so many parents that seem to either not care or can’t be bothered to have some responsibility for their child’s behavior!
I really agree with that! I think I might have another one soon (besides the ones already listed) because I plan on breastfeeding, and I might breastfeed in public sometimes-with a blanket covering it of course), but I am dreading the contact I will have with people who will tell me I am disgusting.
I mean, unless there is a designated spot to do that (like at Babies R Us) then I will do it where I please. If someone comes up to me and tells me to breastfeed in a bathroom-I plan on telling them to go eat in the bathroom.
Plus, I have the Iowa law on my side! 🙂Oh yeah, people telling me horror stories and bad possibilities that could happen to me while I am pregnant. It’s not like I am worried enough. For example, my sister-in-law told me that since this is my first baby, I have a high chance to have a missacariage, and then she preceded to tell me everybody she knows who had one. Yikes! Don’t scare me!
