Thank you. Yes, I don’t get to spend as much time on the forum as I’d, like because running a store is a full-time job. (Well, duh!)
Having been a professional packer of fragile items for the past 11 years, and at other times before that, I know about package crumple zones and to ALWAYS double box. I also know that boxes can fall off the top shelf on UPS trucks, and that some postal employees like to play basketball with smaller packages, so I pack with the assumption that your box is likely to get dropped or otherwise not treated with any respect. And of course for the unforeseen problem everything is sent insured.
Sorry. Packaging is one of my high horses. Obsessions. Whatever.
Your welcome.I am glad that you taking packaging serious. If everyone did that then there would be less stuff that was trashed.

Some years ago I wrote a small pamphlet of detailed instructions on how to pack stuff, for people selling statues to us. Eventually I had to conclude that 8 out of 10 people just don’t read (note that I did not say “can’t read”), which is to say that, with Windstones, 3 out of 4 packages arrived damaged. What astounds me, though, is how often the sender was able to claim the cost back on the shipping insurance, even though the packaging was horrible. We once received a Large Black Wizard packed into a box that was smaller than the Wizard (the package, presumably, had bulged a bit at first, for a brief moment). No amount of glue could have reassembled the granules and dust. And yet the sender got his money back from the Post Office.

Wow, that is crazy. Yeah, I have found that some people I have sent the packing instructions on how to pack Windstones….Some semi read it and others do read it and follow it to the T. I had someone reply back and was very happy I sent them to her.June 22, 2007 at 3:07 am #590564I can personally attest that Dave does do great shipping and he buys retired pieces, so sometimes he has what no one else has. And his encyclopedia is fantastic.
Now I am gonna plug Magicalomaha.com Cindy is the owner and she is really great, I have been very pleased with her store. If I want a piece UPS then that is how it is sent.
Obviously, we also have Enchantment, Wolf and Emerald and they all pack and ship the way things are supposed to be. Great prices with them and layaways available with some.
So you have a great number of places and all of them, nice, honest people! I would buy and have bought from all but a few of those I have listed.
All my items have been perfect and sent with care!

The first piece i ever brought from the US was from Cindy. I was very impressed 😀
June 22, 2007 at 7:14 pm #590566I also gotta chime in for Dave- back before even this forum was around I’d buy Windstones from Astral Castle. It’s a great site in general. 😀
I can’t wait for the layaway period to be over for my mother griffin from Emerald, meself. *drools* Good things come to those who wait, rockerbot. 😀
