From my LJ:
Well, that was a fun start to the morning. I woke up to my neighbor pounding on my door to get me up and tell me that someone had gone around the parking lot and vandalized all our cars. I asked her what she meant by that and she said that all our tires were flat.
So I threw on some clothes and went out to check and sure enough, all four of two of my building-mates’ tires were flat, two of mine (front passenger and driver’s side rear) had gone flat and three of my neighbor’s were ruined (and one still leaking, I couldn’t tell where it was coming from, so I went and got some soapy water so I could see if it was the side or the tread, of course, it was the side).
Cop came out, took a report, so I’ll have to go pick that up Monday. In the meantime, dunno how we’re going to get it down to dad’s station. I can’t exactly throw the spare on and go. Probably borrow a trailer or something, or put the spare on one end and tow it.
Good times, good times. What I wouldn’t give to have a locked, secure garage some days.
Turns out they must have just went down the street poking tires, even went up into someone’s driveway and into their carport to do it. So it wasn’t a singling out of this apartment building, it was a random thing down this street.
What a freaking pain.
Edit:
One of the local news channels covered the tire slashing incident today and I thought I would share the amusement of how the pathetic sight of a truck up on jacks draws the journalists like flies.http://www.wpsdlocal6.com/news/local/story.aspx?content_id=e1e0d6ed-e48d-4e46-af67-7632925d2b81
There’s the article, and there’s also an accompanying video. (BTW, that *is* my truck being referred to as ‘red truck’.)

November 23, 2008 at 4:15 pm #742495Yuck! So sorry to hear about this. So frustrating.
November 23, 2008 at 4:16 pm #742496Kitsune’s right. I’m sorry, Rusti.
November 23, 2008 at 4:32 pm #742497You’re right, some people do suck!
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

http://www.sarahjestin.com/feedbacklists.htmNovember 23, 2008 at 4:39 pm #742498That sucks. I am so sorry about that. Unfortunately those people are everywhere. I had someone bust out the windows of my car once. People are so uncaring. I wonder if they even think of the financial burden they are putting on people whose cars they damage? Probably, but they don’t care.
November 23, 2008 at 4:42 pm #742499That’s just it, they don’t care. Or they get some kind of perverse joy out of knowing people will have to pay for brand new tires (you can’t repair a tire that has any kind of puncture in the sidewall, you have to buy new).
Fortunately my dad is a mechanic and also sells tires, so I’ll probably make an insurance claim so he can get reimbursed for new tires for my truck, but I won’t have to pay out of pocket (because I seriously don’t have the money to pay for this).
November 23, 2008 at 4:53 pm #742500bunch of scum kids that need their asses kicked along side their parents are what they are . We have some hooligans on our block too , i just wanna catch em one time , they would never be able to do it again . Its sad too when you confront the parents because their kids are frickin angles who dont do anything wrong …that really enrages me
November 23, 2008 at 6:31 pm #742501Yeah, people really suck. Your title sums it up perfectly.
I hope whoever did that gets caught somehow. 👿 Pity most apartments can’t afford a camera over a parking lot.
November 23, 2008 at 9:42 pm #742502That royally stinks.
The sad thing is, even with all the good people out there, it only takes one slimebag to pee in the pool. 😕
November 23, 2008 at 10:22 pm #742503Ugh, that kind of thing makes me livid. It’s not even like theft, where they do it for their own personal gain–we get plenty of that around here, and that’s bad enough. But when it’s just pure vandalism like that, you know that the ONLY thing they get out of it is joy at making your life miserable. And that takes an awfully mean-spirited person (probably a drunk one, as well, with lots of drunk friends…urggh)
November 24, 2008 at 12:21 am #742504Rude nasty people…so not cool! I hope the rest of the car owners aren’t going to be terribly burdened financially over this. My tires are $125 each, I’d be really hard pressed to replace them all at once like that.

November 24, 2008 at 1:02 am #742505My dad can order them for $71 a piece. But yeah, I’d be really up a creek without a paddle if I didn’t have them to help me. There’s no way I could spit up $280 right now.
November 24, 2008 at 2:17 am #742506*sigh* I’m really sorry this happened to you and your neighbors. I can’t understand why anyone would act this way. We’ve had some REALLY bad vandalism in town lately, 3 cars have been set on FIRE and still no one has been caught. These were all different days too. One of them was a friend of a friend, and if her neighbors hadn’t seen the fire and gotten it out, they think it could have spread to the house.
