It’s sad really, most businesses are leaving CA if not the US entirely. It is so hard for my husband and I to make a living here, expecially for me as an artist. I seek so much inspiration from Melody’s works, I just have to talk to her. 😀
She’s been in the business for a long time, I’m sure any words of advice would be highly encouraging.
I was brave and rescued the print from it’s horrible wood and glass prison. I took pictures and will post them soon.

I just read this thread, I’m no font of wisdom, but I’m certainly packed full of opinions and rants! (as well as the Christmas goodies that I am trying to shed now. Man those pralines were good!) And you do a comic strip!! oh man , I love it!
January 11, 2008 at 10:11 am #651229Oh wow…just wow. I wasn’t expecting to hear from you so soon, I guess that’s the neat part about the internet, it’s so immediate. I have my own forum as well but it’s pretty much dead in there, LOL. 😆
I guess I will send you a nice note. Talk to you soon!
January 11, 2008 at 5:34 pm #651230You should go to the factory and meet her in person!!
She LOVES to meet us as long as you tell her about it before you get thereJanuary 16, 2008 at 9:32 am #651231Melody and I are chittering away now, thank you so much for all your warm invitations. I can’t wait to start my own PYOs.
I sent her the file for the print. I want her permission before I post the picture here. I will post again soon!
January 23, 2008 at 11:21 am #651232Okay here it goes…this is the print that’s been of family discussion since the late 80’s.
It’s dated 1981. I’ve loved it ever since I was a small child. Sadly there is some visible tobbacco damage at the top but will be hidden by mats when I frame it archivally.
Isn’t it just stunningly precious and absolutely gorgeous? I love Melody’s work!
I am still trying to discuss furthor with Melody about the history and story of this print. I will post again if I learn anything more.
January 23, 2008 at 11:55 am #651233Awwww so cute!!
January 24, 2008 at 3:00 am #651234Thanks for posting this. I’ve never seen this one before. All of Melody’s work is so fantastic. 🙂
January 24, 2008 at 4:13 am #651235I LOVE that print!! It looks GREAT
January 24, 2008 at 8:26 am #651236She tells me that Windstone was one of the first companies to print unicorn and fantasy art. They started in the 70’s distributing to craft malls and such. There were originally done on scratchboard and most prints are sold out. The remaining ones are sold through her art prints store online.
I feel so fortunate that my mother held onto this print for so many many years, she could have easily thrown it out. I’m glad she didn’t…
January 25, 2008 at 10:04 pm #651237Hi! Huh… Anyone knows how to put an avatar under our name?

Hi and welcome. If you look under Profile, at the top, you can load a signature line and/or an avatar. It have to be fairly small though.
May 27, 2008 at 9:45 am #651239Hey There,
I’m still here- lurking.
I haven’t really a single penny right now for another dragon though I yearn for a Black and Gold Curly. It’s funny- now I am moving too just like Windstone. When I move to my new home and set up my studio I want to tackle one of those PYOs.
I just wanted to let everyone know I finished framing Melody’s wonderful print. It’s completely archival and protected for posterity. I will post pix after the forums are back up.
Until then, take care!May 27, 2008 at 12:31 pm #651240Hi, Spyder. Nice of you to stop by again.
May 27, 2008 at 2:03 pm #651241I have that same unicorn print but its in a cheap walmart frame. I spent all my extra money on buying more windstones lol.
