Welcome! Now that you’ve joined the forum, your collection is guaranteed to grow in leaps and bounds.
January 2, 2008 at 9:13 am #651213Thannk you so much! And yes, that’s what I’m afraid of…my wallet and perhaps my husband’s will be hurting, LOL. No not really, ha ha.
For now all I have room for is my babies: two black & gold, and oh how I love them! I’m surprised I went all these years without having a Windstone to call my own.
Since I am an artist I am very intersted in the PYOs. I’ve known about them for a while but for the longest time I was strictly an illustrator. Within the past year I became a doll maker as well. So now I am comfortable with painting upon three dimentional surfaces. So now I’m ready to tackle my first PYO!
The tricky thing is that I live in a very small living space so I really only have room for my two babies…and maybe a one more hee hee hee. As soon as we move into our own place I’ll be sure to tackle a Griffen or maybe a Unicorn.
I guess I’ll haunt around here a bit until I can upload the pict of the print. It’s in a god aweful cheap frame but that is the only thing that has protected it all these years. As soon as I can I’m going to have it professionally framed…but my biggest dream would be to meet Melody and have her sign it in person.
January 2, 2008 at 1:50 pm #651214Welcome to the forums! I too have had Melody’s works around me for more than 2/3’s of my life (I’m almost 35 and have been a collector for 22 years). Congrats on your Christmas and birthday gifts! Don’t leave the forums, it only gets better!! 😀 😀
Small quarters to live, aren’t the end of the world! I’d love to see your print. I have 2 of my own, they are the larger ones. Aren’t the fledgies to die for?!?! 😀
Well, welcome aboard and hang on, it’s one long ride! But…It will be filled with Windstones!!! 8)January 2, 2008 at 11:00 pm #651215WELCOME!!
Melody LOVES to meet us and show us around the factory.
She even got me to do 2 PYO’s when I stopped by one time, a Kirin a a young dragon. I’m SURE she would LOVE to see the print and if you can get down there before they move I KNOW she would LOVE to sign it for you.
Melody LOVES her fans no matter how many Winsstones you actually own. Just a few like you or close to or over 100 like some of us. I’m over 80 now
Just make sure you call and let them know you are heading down there so they can make sure they are there when you get thereJanuary 3, 2008 at 9:27 am #651216They are in North Hollywood right? When are they moving, why and to where?
Wouldn’t it be great just to fly down there to see her!
It’s shameful, I opened up the frame and found slight tobacco damage, my mom has smoked around it for years. 😥
It could also be acid/lignin damage because I don’t think they really printed on archival paper in the 80’s. *sad*January 3, 2008 at 4:56 pm #651217Welcome to the forum!
They are moving to Corvalis, Oregon. Soon. Within a month or two.
January 3, 2008 at 10:55 pm #651218The last time I heard about or asked about the move I was told it most likely will not be until March

The black and white Alberti Design prints of Melody’s work were all printed on acid free Mohawk paper. If it is a colored print it was printed on the best coated stock we could get, but it wasn’t acid free as we couldn’t find an archival coated paper. They were cheap prints at the time we sold them but we wanted them to hold up anyway. There were only two sources for acid free paper at the time (Mohawk and Rising) and you are right that few cheap prints from that era were on good paper.January 5, 2008 at 12:35 am #651220I’m pretty sure it’s on Mohawk paper because you can see a canvas texture on the surface.
So why are they moving? I think they will be about the same distance if not closer because I live close to San Fransisco. I could just drive up to see them in the summer, and it would be a nice drive up past Mount Shasta.
There’s another place I want to tour near L.A. as well so either way it would be pleasant.

They already have a house up there and they are buying the buliding they are moving the company to as opposed to paying rent that just got trippled on them in North Hollywood. I’m sure there are 1000 other reasons too but those are the ones we have really talked about hereJanuary 5, 2008 at 10:13 am #651222Yeah, better location and cheaper, from what I understand. 🙂
January 5, 2008 at 4:43 pm #651223Much cheaper (once you get past the cost of the move at least). I think Melody likes Oregon a lot better too. I hear it’s much prettier up there!
