What can anyone tell me about them?
I don’t see it listed in the retired site at windstoneeditions, but the color is retired.
What is it worth?June 15, 2008 at 9:02 am #495827June 15, 2008 at 9:39 am #714130They are limited production sold directly through windstone. You can find them in the store for $850.

What is it worth?Hello and welcome!
When Windstone retires a color, they retire the color only on existing sculptures. For example, when they retired Peacock, then all the pieces that have been made in peacock up till that point are retired.
New sculptures that Melody creates (for example, the tiny curlie dragons, and Secret Keepers) are sometimes made in Limited Production (available only from Windstone direct) in previously retired colors.
That is to say, they can make Peacock Secret Keepers if they want, because those have never existed when the original Peacock line was out. They will never again make Peacock males or mothers or any other piece that once existed in Peacock and is now retired.
I hope that makes sense!
The Peacock Secret Keepers are Limited Production in the Windstone online store. Limited Production items are unique and made in very small batches. They may be retired at any time.

My art: featherdust.comJune 15, 2008 at 4:51 pm #714132Oh, I was just reading this page…
windstoneeditions-com/special%20auction-htm
And I assumed they had painted one in peacock.
$850? Do you think they will come down or even show up on E-bay auction?
June 15, 2008 at 6:00 pm #714133Well… prices never drop, so no, the price won’t go down. And when a sculpture is made as an LP, then they don’t go on ebay.
June 15, 2008 at 6:15 pm #714134That and the secret keepers, being a solid 32 lbs and 17 inches tall are QUITE large and heavy compared to the other dragon sculpts. The Limited Edition (which are numbered and signed) and Artist Production Secret Keepers that are sold on ebay, like those painted by Olimpia (Windstone’s head painter), normally go for well $1200 – $2000+. π
June 15, 2008 at 8:40 pm #714135The store says they are unsigned.
Could this be why they aren’t going fast?
I’m not sure how long they’ve had them, but none have been sold in about a month since I’ve been watching. Is it just that everyone is broke due to stupid gas prices?Just seems odd to me that they don’t get sold a little faster.
June 15, 2008 at 8:45 pm #714136If I understand right, Limited Editions are numbered and signed, but Limited Production (like the Secret Keepers) are unsigned but only available direct from Windstone, and could be retired at any time.
π
This is the second batch of peacock Secret Keepers – the first batch sold out very fast.
But…I have a limited production gold curlie that is signed. So I suppose sometimes Melody signs limited production sculpts as well.
June 15, 2008 at 8:55 pm #714137Melody used to sign the limited production sculpts, but then they stopped doing it because there were too many signed pieces going out.
And yes the first batch of Peacock Secret Keepers sold out in the first day (and even the first hours I believe). This second batch is going slower. Some of it could be that $850 is a large chunk of change to drop (not that people haven’t paid more for pieces on ebay) especially in the current recession.
June 15, 2008 at 9:08 pm #714138Auuuuhhhhhhhggggg!
I want one so bad! It’s killing me inside trying to justify the price. I know its worth it…Auuuhhhgg! πJune 15, 2008 at 9:18 pm #714139I am so with you on that! Arrrrrggg! darn new old house *grumbles & grembles* I hope you’re able to get one π

June 16, 2008 at 2:04 pm #714140I bought one and believe me it IS worth it. I know I will never afford a Limited Edition ebay Keeper so this was the best choice for me. They are STUNNING in person and for what it’s worth the Peacock ones did sell out when they were first listed in the store. Melody had to paint more just for the demand. I just think they aren’t selling anymore because most of the forum members who could afford one already got ont, and also not many people know that Windstone now had it’s own store with pieces you can’t get anywhere else.
I know before I joined the forum I wouldn’t have checked here because Grandio, where I usually buy my Windstones always has free shipping on Windstones. Plus Keepers are very expensive and with the economy the way it is it’s very difficult to justify spending $850 (actually around $900 after shipping) on a statue. Even if it IS the most gorgeous piece of artwork in existence! LOL! I know I got reamed for it when my boyfriend saw how much I paid, but it was a small price to pay π

Well Windstone will NOT put them on E-Bay. If someone buys one and decides they do not want her, she might show up on E-Bay from the private seller
