Pegasi, your mother dragon is an old peacock version. The original family was never made in the new peacock. The Old Warrior I know for a fact was made in the new peacock, but there are at least some out in the old peacock (very rare). I dont know about the scratcher, lap, fledge, or royal family though. I have only ever seen them in new peacock, but some may have slipped out in the old colors.

The old peacock version did vary a bit though. OLD old peacocks are a little duller than newer old ones. But the really new peacocks look completely different.

While I seem to be on a roll with the pictures, here’s a couple of the 2 Peacock young.

They’re both the “old” paint color. πŸ™‚
The one on the right is my original; the left is the new one that came today as a MIB.

😳 Whoops! It’s so hard to keep all the painting variations straight and since I don’t have my peacock fledge displayed anywhere near the mother dragon (since she will eventually be leaving) I don’t notice the difference in coloration.

        Hehehehe….that’s okay, Peg. πŸ˜‰

Wow, that is a huge difference between the two. My older ones are coloured almost between the two that you have. They’re duller that the one on the left but darker than the one on the right…

Okay, so I’m NOT totally crazy. This is a good thing! πŸ˜†
The pictures aren’t that great, but yeah; I thought there is a huge difference between them. πŸ™‚

My original peacock young looks a lot like yours. I have at least 3 variations of peacock in my collection. πŸ™‚

3? What’s the third one look like? Now you’ve got my curiousity piqued. πŸ˜†

After obtaining a couple of the same white Unicorn sculpts, I started to notice the differences that can occur with their paint jobs.

One that especially stands out is the blaze on the face, down the nose.

It usually blends into what I would call a faint blaze, but one sitting male that I have has a very distinct blaze. Some noses are more grey, some more pink, etc.

Not to mention all the differences in the type of white from the age/care of them. Some are even way more glossy than the others, probably another result of age, care, etc.

One thing I will say about the Hoofer sculpts, they appear to be quite prone to nostral chip damage!

Good thing my real ones don’t have that issue. πŸ˜†

Unfortunately though, they sometimes do have the chipped hoof issue. πŸ™

P.S. Neat posting score ID’s, mine should say Lurker Foal. 8)

Are you sure? Because I think they were. Right before Windstone retired the Peacock, I went into my local dealer, and they had a mother dragon who was so bright, I didn’t immediately recongnize her as a “Peacock” (As my Peacock male is very dark and was the only Peacock I’d seen in person previous to this). I realized she must be the newer peacock, which makes sense to me- right before retirement in 2006, Windstone was still filling dealer orders for scratchers, laps, OW (sculpts we see a lot of the new peacock on) as well as the mother, father, and young sculpts. It seems weird windstone would switch between the different “Peacock” versions depending on which sculpt they were painting. πŸ˜•

I’ll try to take pics tomorrow. My peacock Scratcher is somewhere in between my champagne colored OW and Young Dragon and my bright peacock Fledge and Sitting Spectral. My coiled dragon fits in there somewhere!!! πŸ˜†

ARRRRGH! Make me wait??? But it’s already tomorrow here. πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜†

I’m in the same time zone you are, but they photograph better in the sun. It’s kinda dark at 1am. πŸ˜†

                  This would be true. πŸ˜†
Hopefully your weather is better than mine at the moment; it’s still kinda overcast. I was hoping to go ride with my neighbors today, but it looks like that’s going on the slate for tomorrow…..
I really should lug all the pieces outside when the sun comes out, and take some better shots of the collection. All of my pictures so far have been taken inside with a flash, which doesn’t show the dragons off very well. I’m looking at having to make like 10 trips in and out to get all 17 pieces outside! YIKES! 😯 😯

Hey! I do have another question for y’all…I was looking at my Peacock male side by side with the new Em Pea, and it looks to me that my older male’s eyes are different than the new guy. Is there a way to tell if the old one is a frown eyed? It’s not a REAL BIG difference, but it is different….of course, I was looking at them at like 1 in the morning, so it could’ve been ME that was a bit frown-eyed…. πŸ˜†

According to Melody, the original family was never “supposed” to be done in the new peacock. Who knows, maybe some slipped out. Stranger things have happened πŸ˜€ So far that I know, there are at least two types of old peacock. Both are fairly close, with the newer one being slightly more intense (but as was mentioned here, at least some of you have peacocks in between these two types, which probably means the change was more evolutionary in nature). Tasgrs pictures illustrate very well the two extremes in the old peacock color. Then there is he REALLY new peacock, which looks VERY different. This version of peacock is what you see on newer dragons, as it was never supposed to be done on the original family. The switch to this very new peacock was done to make the dragons look better in store displays.
