Without seeing photos, I’m not sure what to recommend. But, just a friendly reminder; use cleaning chemicals at your own risk! Many of them contain ammonias ( I know Windex does, dunno about 409) or other harsh chemicals that can possibly discolor or change the finish on your Windstone. Most contain Isopropanol, or 2-Butoxyethanol, Ethyl Alcohol, Ethanol, Ethylene glycol n-hexyl ether, or other alcohol based chemicals (sometimes several of them) which are known to lift acrylic paint (some people use rubbing alcohol/ isopropanol to remove paint from their PYOs). Even though cleaners usually have less than 10-20% of these chemicals, use care. Even febreze has Ethanol/SD Alcohol 40 in it (5-7%).

My art: featherdust.comAugust 7, 2007 at 3:03 pm #606013I have used Resolve (carpet cleaner) to remove smells from the felt pad. It works really well for that. As for cleaning I would use a little rubbing alcohol diluted in water (or put on a wet paper towel). Just make sure the bottle says 10%. There is a medical version that is 70%. If you use that thinking it is was 10% you’ll get the shock of your life. (So don’t do that.. 😉 )

I know…I hope I can take it off with something….Hopefully Nam will have some ideas after she see’s the pics….I’m worried too cause I don’t want to damage it or make it worse than it already is.

August 14, 2007 at 5:19 pm #606017Hmm! I dunno- I’ve never had to clean staining off of a piece before. You can ask Melody and show the photos and see if she thinks of anything you can do?

My art: featherdust.comAugust 14, 2007 at 5:19 pm #606018I think it looks kinda cool that way. Almost like it has a design in it. Was it in the original box and was it exposed to water or something?

No it was not in the original box and I think I probably bought it off ebay years ago….I actually didn’t even remember that I had it.
So I can’t even say if that is the way that it arrived but when I found it…it was in a box wrapped with tissue paper in my basement….so the only thing that I can think of is that I recieved it like that. 😕Marzena

August 14, 2007 at 6:14 pm #606022Ok I cant really guarantee what I am saying, just adding thoughts… but that looks very painted to me. Like it was painted over with a very fine layer of very strong white. Varnish-esque white. Perhaps by the former owner.
I may be mistaken though. Never seen one IRL but that was my thought.
Or it could be masking fluid. Or lateron used white to correct, a white that has a defect or another property and hence.. remaining either white or getting the cream color over time or exposure to certain lights. Colors do that. I have the weird feeling you cannot remove it.
It looks natural however. On the pictures that is. I kind of like it. Chicken eggs, especially hatching ones are not clean either. OK a dragon has more dignity and cleanlyness than a chicken… hmmm…I’d say, if you wish for a clean color I’d paint it over. Whatever it is seems to have seeped into the plaster. Once its in its in.
Hardcore chemicals make draggie sick rememver 🙂
he’ll get tummy ache and scales itch.greets

August 14, 2007 at 6:27 pm #606023I kind of like the egg the way it is, too, but it could look different IRL. I have always thought dragon eggs would be patterned or mottled…not like white chicken eggs. That’s just my 2¢…
MM, I saw that you won the pair of old green young dragons, congrats. Are you going to keep both of them?

August 14, 2007 at 6:32 pm #606025There may be some willing to buy him if you cant remove the discoloration…I know I’d consider!

Thanks…you know after hearing a few people on here say that they like the way the egg looks, it’s starting to grow on me 😕
About the green dragons… I probably won’t end up keeping both of them, I really only need one so I’ll probably list it in the Flea market…if you’re interested let me know. 😆Marzena
