Okay, so my friend Betty calls the other day and asks if I would like some peaches. Of course! So yesterday after work, we went to her sister’s house and stripped her peach tree of every peach it had. It was a smallish tree, but it was packed.

Today I canned 26 quarts of peaches, tomorrow I will probably can at least 50, that 26 jars was only one box, and I have two and a half boxes of that size left to can…I’ll be canning for days I think. Also very sick of peaches when I am done.

But we won’t need to buy any canned peaches for a very long time, and they are popular with all the family members.

I think 100 jars of peaches will be enough, don’t you? LOL! Just glad I have that many jars available. The previous owners of the house left us all their canning jars that were in the cellar, there is a lot of them. I’ll be using every last one of them too from the looks of it… since I also have pears next!

Thankfully I don’t have near as many pears…just about 25 jars worth if my guess is right.

Get your fanny over here and help me can the dang things then! Tomorrow would be good!

Deal though…not sure how well the pears are gonna go, most aren’t ripe yet, and I worry I won’t manage to do them right. The peaches are doing great though.

Even if the pears aren’t ripe if you stew them, maybe with a little sugar, it shouldn’t matter. From what I’ve heard from my mom you want pears that are more firm, not too ripe, or it just goes to mush. Don’t know from personal experience tho!

I’ll help can in exchange for some peaches 😀

We missed out on ours this year. We were out of state for three weeks when they were at their peak. And they were gone early. Crops didn’t do as well because of a late Spring freeze for the second year in a row.

Currently I have canned 43 jars, 42 are still sealed, we opened one to taste test, yummy. Alex tried one and went, “Hey, that’s just like the ones we get from the store! Cool!”

I think tomorrow I will swing by Costco and get a big bag of Splenda to make some Splenda peaches for Bill, he’s diabetic and those Splenda peaches from the store are pricey.

Okay, I’m at 55 jars now…tomorrow I will do more, but for now, I’m done!

LOL! Man is that a lot of peaches or what?? I still have about 40 jars worth sitting in the diningroom, so tomorrow I must work on them as soon as I get home.

Yes, this means a slight delay on the repairs, but the Windstones will hold and the peaches won’t, sorry guys.

There ya go, peachy goodness! Note: Karli, who is not quite 2.5 years old, helped me with most of these, she helped peel them, and stuff the jars, such a helper!

Haha I’d trade some crab-apple jelly for some splenda peaches (if I had any crab-apple jelly, anyway, my fiancee eats all of it in 2 days it seems)….

Of course I don’t see either of the above making it over the border easily…. 😀
