So I call home to let everyone know I am on the way. This is a habit from when we lived 20 miles out of town. And Bill tells me he just found 2 pit bull pups, 3 months old, out in the field near our home.

He found them cause he heard honking, then brakes squealing and went to investigate. Sitting out there in the snow looking very bewildered and lost were the two pups.

One is a brindle and white female and the other is a black and white male. They are very cute, and I just can’t believe anyone would dump them out here in the snow like that!

Anyway, we will be taking them to the vet later, or fostering them and having the vet help find them homes. You would think this close to Xmas they could have found them homes versus dumping them. But I guess the bad press about pit bulls has made that harder. I plan to advertise them as Staffordshire pups, since that is the breed the pit is derived from and will likely give them a better shot at being adopted.

I’d keep them, except we already have 5 dogs, 2 more is just too many.

hmm.. I know around here you have to have extra home owners insurance to cover pit bulls.. and they don’t usually foster them

the rescue shelter will not take them.. and the humane society (pound)..

only keeps them a week before putting them down..

which is kind of sad.. but it’s all because of stupid people..

That’s so nice of your hubby to bring them home. And great of you both to keep them until they can find homes. I don’t understand people that can just dump an animal in the dead of winter in the middle of nowhere and expect them to survive…

Stupid people is right. We have neighbors down the road that moved here in August. They have two beautiful Fawn colored young Pit Bulls. They have an electric fence system 🙄 That will not contain a Pit Bull. We went horseback riding yesterday and both dogs ran out in the road after us. I went over and talked to the owner later to let him know and he just kept repeating about the fence. Idiot. 🙄 🙄
Even after one of the dogs ran out after a car while we were talking he didn’t seem to think there would be a problem ! 🙄 🙄 🙄 I’m afraid the dogs will end up attacking someone or their pet or will get shot by someone whose afraid of them.
We have no animal control in this county so that is typically how problems are handled.
🙁 Now we have stupid idiot people who don’t understand how to train and keep the breed they own and those poor dogs will pay for it 😡

Good for you for taking them in, Kirin. I’d like to see some photos too.

ya I would love to see pics too, poor babies.

Have you thought of contacting a rescue, maybe they can get you in touch with some pre-screened owners.

What jerks. I hope you find them nice homes. They’re lucky you found them.

I am glad we found them yesterday and not today…or they would be dead. Had a blizzard blow up just before going to work.

Ooooh, good timing! I’m glad your family was able to rescue them!

Hehehe… I just thought of 2 names – Nutmeg (or Snowflake/Blizzard) and Coal (the black and white one). They just came to mind randomly when I read this. 🙂
