So I’m getting ready to sign off and head for bed and my daughter brings me a capsule, empty all powder gone and the capsule was obviously chewed on. Great! What the hell was this??
We have no meds in the house with this color combo, purple and orange. WTF, what was it. We start frantically looking for what she may have gotten into.
Find it! A damn Soil Test Kit…she’d eaten the capsule used for Phosphorus testing. Okay, now we know what she ate, but not what was in it. The instructions say if ingested, drink lots of water, but that’s it.
So we call the Poison Control Center and by some miracle the gal there finds a listing for that capsule! Amazing, she and I really hadn’t expected to find it. Turns out worst case scenerio will mean some diarrhea, whew! I can deal with that. As long as Karli is fine, I’m good. So now I can flop.
But man, that was scary…so glad it wasn’t anything worse!

June 21, 2008 at 5:42 am #716541😯 OMG she’s going to be alright…right?
Keep us posted tomorrow!
Guess you’ll find a new place to store that.June 21, 2008 at 5:43 am #716542My dad would share a similar story, with Joy Dish detergent. I apparently drank half a bottle of the stuff when I was just over a year old.
Dad found me because me and Ryan were quiet, and a year old and a 2-3 year old are NEVER quiet apparently.
Other then some “fun” diapers I suppose I was fine, so, chances are, unless Karli has an allergic reaction or a very abnormal reaction to it, she should be fine.
I guess kids are scary, huh?
June 21, 2008 at 5:45 am #716543Yikes! The worst I did was swallow a penny…
But our dog, Supai, chewed through a tube of maximum strength ambesol last week… 🙄 That was an interesting call to the vet.
He’s fine, so it’s funny now. He’s usually a very enthusiastic licker, but after biting through that tube he hardly opened his mouth all day, and slunk around looking sorry for himself. Maybe that’ll teach him to stop chewing!
(If you don’t know, ambesol is an oral gel that numbs mouth pain…poor puppy’s mouth probably felt pretty weird!)
I’m glad she’s okay, Kyrin.

I swallowed a quarter once… that was a few interesting doctor’s visits (they wanted to make sure it didn’t get stuck).
And back to Kyrin’s stuff…
June 21, 2008 at 6:03 am #716545That child will eat anything and everything. Kyrin you need to feed her. lmao!!!!! 😉 😆
June 21, 2008 at 6:49 am #716546Good grief how scary!! Glad it wasnt too serious. Justin never got into anything like that…never really broke anything either, till my green fledge. I have been lucky, I guess.

😆 I’m sorry… the first thought that came to mind was… so, does she contain too much or too little phosphorus? If she eats seeds, think they’ll grow? Sorry, sorry, weird sense of humour here.
I’m glad she’ll be fine and that you don’t have to do nasty stuff like inducing vomiting and the likes.
Hugs!

June 21, 2008 at 2:26 pm #716549When Alex was 2 he went into the bathroom, after having climbed over a baby gate and DRANK my hair dye 😯
June 21, 2008 at 2:31 pm #716550Sounds like you guys all need some Mr. Yuck stickers. o.o; They worked really well on us.
June 21, 2008 at 3:03 pm #716551I’m glad she’ll be okay. I’ve eaten worse and lived to tell. (Not that I would….) But, I wasn’t near as bad as my oldest sister. She got into everything. Funny now, but, not back then I’m sure.
The worst thing I ate was too many vitamins. I ended up getting my stomach pumped… I remember I was trying to get my friend to take his vitamins. So, I showed him that they tasted good. Luckily he didn’t listen to me.
June 21, 2008 at 3:26 pm #716552Yup…..the true talent of kids…exasperating and scaring the daylights out of mom and dad. I’m glad she’ll be ok, hopefully she spilled more of the powder than she swallowed, and it be that bad of diarreah. 🙂
