So, those of you in Oregon, particularly the Corvallis/Eugene area… How is the weather year round (Spring/Summer/Fall/Winter)? How about in January? Just curious in planning an eventual trip to the windstone factory and visiting a state I’ve never been to sometime in the next year or so 🙂

March 2, 2008 at 9:48 am #672900I’ve been here about 17 years and it can vary quite a bit. Here is a brief run-down.
Spring – Very nice. Temp can range from High 50s-low70s. If you have any type of hay fever/allergies you will have them acting up about May – July. We are, after all one of largest grass seed growers in the world.
Summer – Very nice. Late July – Sept it can get quite hot 80s-high 90s. It’s rare to have over 100 in the valley. The coast is a wonderful temp in the 70s, but we can get it trapped here down in the valley.
Fall – Sept is usually pretty hot, sunny and warm. By Oct-Dec it can get cold 50s (sometimes 40s) and will be dark and dreary due to the rain. Assume rain most of the time.
Winter – Dec to Feb still more of the same for rain and just cold (50s). Every few years, like this winter we have snow in the valley. The cycle had been about every 5 years, but it doesn’t seem to be holding true. About every 3 years now. We do get the occasional small hail or freezing temps (sometimes in Dec, but more likely in Jan and Feb). We have very temperate weather in the last two weeks of Feb of this year, but it will get rainy again before true spring is here.
Hope this helps. If you need more info, just let me know.
March 2, 2008 at 2:46 pm #672901SilverArrow, you said it way better than I did! Thanks! Corvallis is still one of my most favorite places in the Pacific Northwest 😀

March 2, 2008 at 7:28 pm #672902I was born in that area and spent every summer there growing up. Summer is beautiful there. I haven’t really spent much time there in other seasons when I can remember, due to my parents divorcing when I was 5, and Mom moving us to Calif.
But I still have hordes of family in the area, and will be visiting this summer. I hope to visit the factory while I am there as well.
Anyway, Oregon is a very nice place and the area the factory is moving to is a very good choice, I get to see family and visit them…two birds with one stone, gotta love it.

March 2, 2008 at 10:13 pm #672903Oh goodies 🙂 Now I just need to decide if I want fly out at the end of the summer/early fall to visit the factory or wait for my birthday in January.
I like green. Forests are lovely to go hiking, exploring, and ‘critter’ watching 😉
