I dont know anything new. The head shed was at work late last night, but I was not included in the meetings. I was checking the replacment of two power units. The news is not releasing the names of the casualties till the families know. Its a 4-day weekend here, so I dont even know if the masses will learn anything till Tuesday. 😕 The investigators will be there within 24hrs, but we wont know what caused the accident till they are done with the investigation. This waiting is horrible. My boss thinks it was tail rotor failure judging by the angle of the crash. I hope he is wrong and it was pilot error. Most accidents are.
Thanks everyone. Well, turns out I did know who two of the victims were. One was G Co’s COmmander 😯 and the other was a specialist I had met the week before. I didnt know either of them well, but its weird that I had just talked to them a week or so ago and now they are both gone. They are having a memorial today or tomorrow. Two of the guys in my shop knew those two quite well. No word on cause of the crash, but I am thinking it was because of hot-dogging. I really hope I am wrong, but the ingredients were there. 😕
Ski, I’m so sorry. I hope you’re wrong, too, ’cause that’s gotta make it even harder on the families. I guess that also means the pilots were young 🙁 The whole thing is horrible. My heart aches for the people & families involved.
With the company commander on there, a new female LT, and 6 Air Force guys reenlisting, I can totally see some showing off going on. I guess it really doesnt matter why, though I do feel that that would be more tragic, as you said. So preventable. 🙁
