So if you see any reading/writing themed ones (middle school appropriate), please send them my way! Thanks! That sounds like a great idea, Stephanie.
I love “Day 43” and the puffer fish. 😆 😆

Like I said… Same deformity, just came about differently (one by accident, one on purpose).
Just something to think about, but does that then make it ok, to produce debilitating deformities in animals, if the deformed animals are NOT then cast aside? In other words, is a deformities “goodness” or “badness” determined only with how we treat those deformed animals after they are born? But it isnt the same deformity, pugs noses got shorter over time through selective breeding, not a genetic defect from inbreeding. The issues with the white tigers, if you must compare it to dogs, is like breeding 2 merle shelties or doxies together causeing the pups to be deaf and often born without eyes. While some breeders will do it, most reputable will not take the chance.
Kinda like comapreing apples and oranges since the deformities are not caused by the same thing.Pam Thompson wrote:ruffian wrote:I have no clue what you mean by the “twisted cat” the fact that you are comparing them with bassets I am gonna guess you mean “munchkin cats” which does have the same form of dwarfism that bassets, doxies and corgies have. They belive that it is a lethal gene, TICA does register them though. Lethal genes are not to be played with and a huge number of dog breeds have them, any breed where piebald or merle is present, you cross 2 merle dogs and pups are often re-absorbed, born deaf, blind, without eyes and parts of the ears, or just dead, but all are 100% preventable with proper breeding practices.
Twisted cats are not munchkin cats. They are cats with twisted front legs that some lady started breeding on purpose and got a lot of people upset. I can’t find any pics right now, but I remember seeing a pic a few years ago and the front legs looked the same as basset legs.
I finally found a referance to a “twisty cat” but still found no one acctually breeding them. This is what causes the deformity in the cats “Forelimb Twisting Due to Radial Hypoplasia (Twisty Cat)”. The short legs in a Bassett Hound are caused by achondroplasia, known as dwarfism, again kinda like apples and oranges, and as I mentioned before, the same thing is what causes munchkin cats.
Some people like certin dog breeds others dont, for every person that loves pugs there are those that despise German Shepherds, Labrador Retrievers and Malinois. But I really do think that the fact that “dogs” as they are were 100% created by man, their evolution, as it were, was completly forced and driven by people, they were never expected to survive in the wild, and when it comes time for them to have too it will be because man is gone makes the differance. If you dont like pugs or bulldogs, or anyother breed out there dont get one, it is pretty simple, but at least you can also rest easy knowing that they are not cast aside or euth’ed because of their noses. Unlike the deformed white tigers who are.
OK guys, Not to pick on anyone in particular 😛 but I’m thinking this whole discussion should be moved to another thread and not continue taking up space on Caturday. Please 🙂
April 2, 2008 at 1:27 pm #645904I’d take the deformed white tiger…If I had the house big enough. My ex wouldn’t let me get a kitten once…It had two noses and no one wanted him. I shoulda took him anyway. Who knows where he ended up. 🙁
