Honda is coming out with a hydrogen car next year!!! π― SWEET.
Did anyone watch the future car show on Discovery last month? Did you guys see the car that runs on compressed air that they built in France?? How cool is THAT??

March 27, 2007 at 10:52 am #556141New technology like this (look at hybrid cars) is almost always very pricey, at least compared to ‘normal’ cars. Givt them a few years to work out some of the kinks and refine the technology a little and things should become more mainstream affordable. I mean look at computers. 10.. even 5 years ago it would take 3 times the amount of money to buy a computer that’s five times as crappy as what you can buy today. π That’s just technology. When they first came out PS2 (Playstation 2) were what… $300? $400? Now you can get a new one with a bunch of accessories for less than $90 in most places.
Here’s another example… I remember when cruise control, power windows, and power locks in a car were an expensive added luxury! These days there aren’t many cars that don’t come with it standard! πVolunteer mod- I'm here to help! Email me for the best response: nambroth at gmail.com
My art: featherdust.comMarch 27, 2007 at 9:16 pm #556142Years ago I read about a hydrogen-powered car that was supposed to come out in 2012 (“Sweet!” I thought, “By then I’ll be able to drive one!”) but the cool thing about it, besides the hydrogen, was that it had an exchangeable body. Supposedly you could change it from a pickup to a minivan to a town car if you wanted to, just by popping a different body on… It was pretty weird. I’m not sure how it worked, but that’s what the article said. It will be interesting to see if it really does hit the markets in five years.
March 27, 2007 at 10:16 pm #556143hehe… I remember when Microwaves and VCRs were at least $400-$500 to acquire because they were brand new! π― I was only a wee little thing too! I know so many kids that are like, how could you live without one or without a cell?!?! π
Hehe… you can even date some movies by looking at what type of cell phone they use (the ones the size of walkie-talkies, or the car ones that looked like home phone handsets). Companies are developing pc screens that are as thin and flexible as a sheet of transparency paper (the kind that teachers use for overheads in school)! You can already use a keyboard with a laser sensor that projects the ‘image’ of keys onto a flat surface in front of the computer, making a desk or table an instant keyboard! Kinda wish cell phones weren’t so attached to the hip/ear though π
I just got a new camry last year, but I wouldn’t get a prius because of their cost and if something went wrong with the engine (particularly the battery), I really couldn’t afford to fix it (the battery at least $700, but I think it’s closer to $1000!), because the technology is so new. There are still kinks to work out (works with each new release of a windows operating system or any new model of car!).
March 27, 2007 at 10:57 pm #556144One of the biggest problems with new technology in cars is fueling problems. They have had bio-diesel, and natural gas for quite a few years, but there are not many places to get fuel for either. Expecially in rural areas, like for me.
March 28, 2007 at 12:05 am #556145hmm…I’ll take one of those cars that runs on compressed air….
I’ve got a lot of compressed air I could use for it…. π π

March 28, 2007 at 12:25 am #556148Hydrogen cars are neat, but they’re one of those things that may never actually come down in price. I read an article about them not too long ago that pointed out a lot of problems, including the fuel thing, and some problems with mass producing and efficiency and so on. Wish I could remember where the article was…
