Devil’s advocate here, but I don’t know if I agree that it was an act of cruelty, unless she was attempting to cause pain and suffering to the poor dog. If she did not shoot to kill, then yes I agree that it is indeed cruelty. The article really isn’t clear in this.

Why could she not have just sold the dog, or given him away?

I want to make it clear that I don’t agree at all with what she did– totally sad and unnecessary… 🙁I think the dog was shot, like, a dozen times or something, so def shooting to kill and not torture, I would guess. Just to get back at the ex gf in a really mean way. Poor pup.
How sick and twisted. Animals have feelings, too; that dog didn’t know it was a present from an ex-lover.
