It’s kinda scary/exciting having a really rare one.
I don’t have a single LE piece, so I think I could understand. Just the idea of having one is cool (though, I will never have a LE piece, lol).
Congrats. Be sure to take photos of him when he arrives!!November 3, 2007 at 2:31 am #629648Awesome!! 😀 Congrats!

November 3, 2007 at 3:13 am #629650It’s strange though, the Eastern Dragons don’t ever seem to go as high as the Western ones. I wonder why that is… Although I guess it is a great chance to get a rare/unique dragon under $1000.00.
How much have Olympia’s Sun Dragons sold for so far? Does anyone know?
November 3, 2007 at 3:17 am #629651That’s an interesting question. I love the Oriental dragons, myself. I wonder why they aren’t as popular?? 😕
November 3, 2007 at 3:30 am #629652Maybe its because most people grew up looking at pictures of Western dragons, and so that type of dragon is what people think of as a real dragon.
I’m not sure why, but I’m not interested in the Oriental dragons at all though I love the western dragon sculpts.
November 3, 2007 at 3:43 am #629653You’re probably right. I have an interest in dragon myths from all cultures and became attacted to oriental dragons because the myths are usually a lot more postive than those for western dragons. Oriental dragons were often seen as good luck, while western dragons were mostly seen as evil creatures. I love both anyway…. 😉

Interesting…I didn’t know that. I’ll have to check out some Oriental dragon myths… 🙂
November 3, 2007 at 5:21 am #629655I’m Chinese so I love the Orientals. I’m just looking for my Emerald Sun Dragon to complete the set now.

Do you think they’re not as popular?? I just put the price up to the sculpture itself being smaller…though the coiled mothers sure went for a whole heck of a lot, so maybe I’m wrong on that! I think the orientals are stunning…easily some of my favorite windstone dragons!

-J R R TolkienNovember 3, 2007 at 10:27 am #629658Im guessing the sculpt is just not as popular. The first one went for just over $600, if I remember correctly. I would pay $1000 if I had $1000 😆 I love the orientals. They look so nice on display.
November 3, 2007 at 1:15 pm #629659I agree, the Orientals really display well!! Sometimes I put some of my Windstones away temporarily to display other things, but I always leave my Orientals out!! 😀
November 3, 2007 at 3:26 pm #629660Though I enjoy the benevolent lore that surrounds Eastern dragons, I’m not as attracted to Melody’s orientals because it’s important to me on a personal level for the dragons I collect to have wings, or at least some sort of representation of wings. 🙂

My art: featherdust.comNovember 3, 2007 at 3:29 pm #629661Maybe that’s the reason then….maybe a lot of people prefer winged dragons. That would make a lot of sense. 🙂
