So I may be in a minority here, but I’m someone who is building a collection of dragons and has certain pieces in mind. I’ve lost auctions before and gotten over it but I have to say that the last one with the Burning Ember Old Warrior is really bumming me out. That statue in that scheme truly hit the nail on the head for what I would envision an “Old Warrior” looking like. I think the other reason it bugs me is the fact that Old warrior with red and black schemes have only appeared once in the last 2 years (maybe I’m wrong, but I think the last one was hades or something and I wasn’t aware of these at that time).
Anyway I’ll stop crying and get to my question. What are the odds of actually taking some of these higher grossing auction pieces and producing a set? Not sure what goes into that decision making but I would imagine when something breaks the ordinary range on price that it would be a contender for a sale item.
And if that’s out of the question, what are the odds of maybe releasing more Old Warrior and Griffin pieces moving forward?
Thank you in advance for your time.
March 15, 2018 at 8:40 am #1536155I’d say it’s definitely a possibility, for the reason you suggested.
Subbing to hear a formal answer <3
March 19, 2018 at 11:05 am #1536228I don’t think final price has a lot of bearing on whether a color becomes LP. That was discussed on another thread that I am too lazy to look for. A lot of times, new LP or even RP colors were never test paints.
As for red and black Old Warriors, my file of ebay photos turns up one other (Opoponax 2, black with red and copper), but I know another was made (Blackfyre) ’cause it is sitting on my table. I’m not sure why the eBay photo is not in my files. I’m pretty sure I was doing the eBay photo thread when it came out, and I never delete the pics.
Maybe I should admit that I nabbed the Smoldering Ember OW, too. I love red & black, and I love Old Warriors.
Hades was much longer ago, and I am not aware of an Old Warrior being made in it. I only remember it on hoofers – I got the pegasi, and there were also unicorns. And a guinea pig, lol. I almost went for the guinea pig, but at the last minute decided I didn’t want it badly enough. The unicorns didn’t have enough of the red for my taste. I also like the pegasus sculpts better. This doesn’t mean there weren’t any Hades dragons – I may just not remember from that long ago if they didn’t appeal to me.My keyboard is broken. I keep pressing "Escape", but I'm still here.
March 19, 2018 at 12:11 pm #1536229The Sinberry scheme was red, white, and black, and was produced on an OW.
I have a picture of a prototype OW in a color called “Black Russet,” too, but I don’t remember the details. (It’s very gold for something called Russet, in the picture I have; I wonder if it was a prototype for Black Gold??) Speaking of: there are some production Black Golds that are heavy on the red-and-black, too.
Anyone remember whether Wine Cherry was ever produced on an OW? I have a photo of the Male, but since I’m not generally big on red dragons I didn’t save all of the Wine Cherry pictures and can’t remember exactly what pieces it was featured on. It was a delicious red-and-black scheme, even I have to admit!
Interested in buying or trading for: GB Pebble Sitting Red Fox in dark grey, Lap Dragon Test Paints (Water Sprite, Glacial Pearl, Opulence, Pastel Rainbow, and many others - see my Classifieds ad), Blue Morpho OW, GB Pebble Loaf dragons in blue/aqua/teal, and Griffin Test Paints (Black Rainbow or Frosted Jade).
March 19, 2018 at 12:23 pm #1536231The “Hades” pieces were painted by Patricia Smith and some of them are in her ebay gallery.
The Hades Riser is sitting on my shelf:
There was a Hades curlie and a “Golden Hades” scratcher.
I don’t know whether there was a “Hades Flame” OW, but I had the lap for a while.
March 19, 2018 at 12:25 pm #1536232P.S. “Blackfyre” appeared on most of the dragon sculpts if I recall correctly.
March 19, 2018 at 12:44 pm #1536233Yep, the Hades dragons didn’t appeal to me. That gold edge kills it for me. I’m not sure why, because “black with red and gold” sounds interesting to me.

March 19, 2018 at 1:06 pm #1536234Roaming with the aid of Google I’m also finding a “Black Ruby” emperor and some “Volcanic” dragons painted by Brandi, including an old warrior (I don’t remember him at all).
April 6, 2018 at 7:44 am #1537399Wow, it was very cool taking a walk down “memory lane” with you all! As a new collector, it’s reassuring to see that, if you miss out on something you really love on eBay, there’s a chance something (somewhat) similar will pop back up. Just gotta give it time 🙂
As for these color schemes: I /love/ them! (Surprise, surprise 😉 )
June 11, 2018 at 4:05 pm #1539964Wow, Etruscan, I had forgotten that OW; he really looks very close to the Smoldering Ember pieces, doesn’t he? I think I like his color a little better (less white), but I’m not enough of a red dragon fan for my opinion to count for much. 🙂
Thanks for digging that up!
Oh, and for funsies, pics of some past red and black(ish) OWs I’ve saved, including the ones I mentioned before plus a few others:
“Black Russet” OW:
“Sinberry” OW:
“Burgundy” OW:
“Fire Berry” OW:
I think this one was just called “Ember”:
And there have been other red/black schemes as well that may have included Old Warriors; not being a huge red fan, I don’t always save photos of those. Anyone else remember whether OWs were produced for Sanguine, BlackFyre(?), or Wine Cherry? Please post pics if you have ’em! 😀
Terra Cotta is technically a red and black coloration, too, though it’s brick-red instead of bright red…

June 11, 2018 at 6:38 pm #1539971Burgundy and Fire Berry are simply delish 😍😍
Every act matters. No matter how small💞
(Wanted......Brimstone Lap)
Male Hearth....one day🤞Dream on.July 2, 2018 at 8:05 pm #1540844As mentioned before, I’m not a huge red dragon fan, but Fire Berry has enough purple in it that I find it easier on the eyes than the rest.
Does anyone have a picture of the “Black Ruby” that etruscan mentioned upthread? I don’t remember that color at all – not by name or by artist or sculpt! And now I’m really curious. 🙂

September 2, 2018 at 12:06 am #1542342I bid on and loved every sanguine that was on eBay. That was my absolute favorite and I wish it would become a color. I would love more red dragons too. I have an old Red mother dragon and male but would die for an old warrior in Saguine.
