I have NO idea why… but I’m suddenly reluctant to place a firm price on this lovely lady…
So I thought I would post her in here, and accept offers on her though tomorrow evening (6pm MT or so) Otherwise she will head to ebay that night! π
She is painted in a combination of Pastels and acrylics… I really wish my camera could capture the richness of her color (she’s not just flat black! :D) and the shine on the beads in her mane and tail (both are metallic/interference colors)…
If I didn’t need $$ so bad… she’d be staying with me! π I REALLY like how her pattern turned out! π
June 12, 2007 at 9:42 pm #588711What brand of paint did you use on her? Also, what is the difference between pastels and acrylics? I know what acrylic paint are because I have painted with them before, but never pastels! I would buy her from you, but I cant afford anything right now. I have to tell you though, she is my favorite out of all of these PYO uni’s I’ve seen! She is pretty!
June 12, 2007 at 10:06 pm #588712Oohhhh…I am so tempted to shell out my money for her! I want her so bad! If you have a price range for her, PM me. I would love to buy her! *shoves hand in the bottom of purse and finds a few coins* π― I’ll have to find more! π

Well… I use a combination of acrylics. Apple Barrel and Creamcoat… the cheap stuff you find at Walmart or Michaels… AND more expensive artist paints… like Golden and Liquitex. π
As for pastels… I use chalk pastels… crushed into dust. I then dust the different colors of pastels on the PYO (or Model horse) in layers… sealing each layer on the PYO with a clear acrylic sealer.
Of course if I don’t seal the pastels, they will not adhere to the PYO and eventually rub off.
Not to mention it takes 5-30 layers of pastels to achieve the color I want. ^.^
I have been promising for ages that I would do a tutorial on pastels… Once I get one of the PYO Unicorns going… I will do that! π

I would love to see your tutorial once you get around to it!! I am VERY tempted to try a PYO, but I wouldn’t know where to start when it comes to the materials and to ensure its longevity.
