I just have a soft spot for the needy… Thank you everyone. 😳 All of them are doing well. Poor momma, though… I tell her “No” and she cowers and flops on her back like im gonna beat her or something. She is a stinkin sweetheart but veeeery timid. We’ll get her past it. She likes us, it seems…Doesnt like Bacchus much though. 😆 Right now, the pups are being very demanding. I give her some ‘Just Born’ formula in her food and she is drinking lots of water. I just hope they are both (mamma and puppies)getting enough. Its a lot of pups for such a little dog. She is managing well though. I cant wait to post pics of the pups as they get older. Its sad… I know puppies are cute, but I also know most puppies born in situations like these dont lead a charmed life. At least these will be fixed before adoption. Thats something. 🙂
July 25, 2009 at 3:57 am #776866She is small to have so many pups! I always wonder what happened to the dogs and cats at shelters we don’t adopt. It’s so sad to go, even though you intend to bring a dog or cat home, and know that so many of those animals won’t find forever homes. I’d take them all if I could properly care for them and afford them. They all seem so sweet.

You and me both…I always end up crying before I leave just thinking aobut all those poor kitties and doggies who are full grown that people over look for the young’uns. I have ended up with 3 of my own full grown kitties. It’s hard to get them to trust eachother, but eventually they do. I kept the 2 kittens my bigger kitty had before she was fixed. They are 6 now, and I still call them “Baby Boy” and “Baby Gurl”… 😀
Ski, you are a blessing, don’t ever let anyone tell you different! 😀 <3
July 26, 2009 at 4:13 am #776868I think it’s wonderful that you are willing to foster these mum and pups! Not enough people in the world willing to do that.
They are all cuties though…. I wonder if the pups will look anything like mum, because she’s a pretty dog (if small and skinny).
July 27, 2009 at 12:56 am #776869Oh goodness. What happened to the birds? Do you know?

They went to a bird sanctuary here. It was a big consolidated effort to get all the animals placed, at least temporarily. Im not sure if they had any exotics or anything like that… I think it was mostly ducks and chickens. There probably were a couple… they had 4 rabbits that were not mentioned in the rescue count, so they may have some exotic birds, too.
July 30, 2009 at 9:12 pm #776871Oooh the puppies are opening their eyes already!!!! They are so freakin cute!!! im gonna take individual pics of them once they are walking/older so they can be put up on the adoption page. http://www.oahuspca.org
Im going over to the warehouse this weekend to work with some of the more timid cases. I hope they all find homes soon…
July 31, 2009 at 2:00 am #776872Please post the pics here too!!! I love puppies!!! It’s a good thing I don’t live close to you. They’re irresistible!!

I did go back out there this weekend. A little over half of the dogs left are under socialized… as in they dont really want anything to do with people, and some actually bite. It will be a lot of work to get them ready. Foster homes would really help. 🙁 At least quite a few are fostered and things are looking up. Look… cute puppies!!
August 3, 2009 at 8:31 pm #776874WHAT CUTIES!!! I love that some are nursing and some are sleeping! Is there a runt in that litter? I didn’t see one.
August 8, 2009 at 7:07 pm #776875There is a runt and she is a little SNOT!!! ou pic her up and snuggle her and she pulls away and curls her lip. She has quite an attitude!

August 10, 2009 at 12:24 am #776876Thanks for all the videos! Those puppies are adorable!! Momma looks so much better than she did the first time we saw her. A little TLC has really made a big difference! Ski, you’re so wonderful for taking care of this little family!
August 30, 2009 at 4:35 am #776877Puppies are growing! About 6 wks old and almost ready for homes. I just hope they start finding homes before I deliver. Paul should be here the 7th or 8th which will cheer me up immensly but it would still be nice to have these guys out from under foot before the baby is born. 😀 Momma, as it turns out, is petrified of the car. She crapped all over the back. I kinda forgot what kind of background she had. When I gave her a bath last week, she did the crocodile death roll. Took two folks to bathe her. One to hold and one to wash. For a 20lb dog, it was quite a challenge. She will adjust, though. Just thought I would share a new video. Sorry about the quality… puppies are hard to tape. They wont stand still!!! http://www.youtube.com/user/skigod377#play/uploads/0/qUy6Kd0Ebq4
