I have reached the unenviable position of needing to paint more PYO’s and running out of money to do so. I think I may be addicted and it happened in three pieces. (Do they have support groups for this kinda thing?) I just uploaded my griffin for approval for my gallery. I think it will show up tomorrow? I painted the griffin with a brush cause I used all 7 cans of propellant on my first two PYO’s. I am going to have to get a compressor now. That said, I think he came out pretty good. I also think he is the one I would choose to sell because I can not seem to let go of the nightmare or my dragon. How do you guys handle it when you get to this point? How do you know if you have a salable product? And do you think the griffin will qualify as salable when he shows up in my gallery? I know I am a pain, but I had no idea the can of worms I was going to open when I decided to start these as a hobby. How do you guys do it? I hate to let any of them go! I would appreciate some words of wisdom from more experienced members.
June 25, 2007 at 10:20 pm #592405I know what you mean. Since I finished my PYO for the swap I’ve been fiending to paint more but I had to wait until I had some money to order them. I don’t know if I’ll ever sell any. The one’s I’m planning on doing are going to be gifts for friends. I can’t wait until the dragon and unicorn I ordered this weekend get here so I can get started.
June 25, 2007 at 10:33 pm #592406I find out if I’ve got something sellable by putting it up for sale, generally. *grins*
June 25, 2007 at 10:57 pm #592407Yup, like SPark, thats how I find out! Some do very well, some tank. What kind of airbrush do you use?
These PYOs are really addictive! I haven’t kept one, mostly because I have a spending habit that is OUT OF CONTROL, but it kills me everytime I go the PO!! I just keep telling myself that after I am out of debt I can paint for myself….

June 26, 2007 at 6:47 am #592410You never really know what is gonna sell. You have to be reeeeally good to get good money from them. If it is just a hobby, as opposed to a job, just have fun with it. Sell it and hope you at least get back what the sculpt costs. 😆 I barely make back what I pay for them and I am not a horrible painter.
