I’m so sorry that Agrium blindsided you like this. Considering up north here, Agrium is hiring – this seems awfully weird (or they *were* hiring engineers, I don’t know about now).
And I emphasize on the (lack of a) job market. It’s not much better up here – I’ve been looking for months and keep getting shot down for people with more experience that are so desperate to get a job, they’ll take anything.
Hopefully things look up and that you won’t have to move (or at least that you won’t have to move far).
February 15, 2010 at 11:49 pm #806056I’m so sorry to hear about this on top of everything else you’re dealing with right now. I hope your surgery goes fine and your hubby is able to find something close by.
I know first hand about the crappy job market, most of the surounding area is laid off. I searched for almost a year where I live before I finally applied at a local grocery store, I only work about 26 hours a week but at least it’s something. I wish you guys the best of luck.

Sometimes companies advertise jobs that they’ve no intention of filling. If they’re laying off in one place, they’re probably not actually hiring anywhere else. I don’t know why they do it, but then, I don’t know why companies lay people off. It’s bad for their bottom line and worker morale.

Know that we’re all thinking about you and wishing you the best. It is hard times for a lot of people here and we try to support each other the best we can. Things happen for a reason, so I’ve been told. Maybe a better opportunity is right around the corner, so I’ve been told as well. Easier said than done, but we’re holding you in our thoughts and prayers and have hopes that things will get better for everyone.

March 10, 2010 at 1:07 am #806067The high school cross country coaches and the track coaches just found out that we may not be here for the boyohs to run in high school – they were really counting on them, it seems… Me boyohs have said that they’ll live in a tent for 4 years so they can run here. They won’t even consider running for a different school… 🙄

I hate to say it, but that’s incredibly unfair of them and the coach. Life does go on after moving, believe me. And it’s not all about the activities you’re in. While I really hope that a job or two shows up in your home town, I think it’s important to understand that you can only do what you can do, and the family has to make do.
