**NOTE: If it is wrong to post photos of broken Windstones I will IMMEDIATELY remove this post, if required**
Bodine, I had a similar situation. I got a Happy Cat off eBay for a great price. Happy Cat had an exciting and eventful journey to my house. When he arrived his left wing was SHATTERED to DUST. I spent an entire week trying to piece the wing back the best I could, but so many pieces had been destroyed, he had big chunks missing all over. I took some nice modeling clay and filled in the holes and cracks, but he looked TERRIBLE! He looked like my bathroom tile! So my hubby helped me paint him in a color to hide all the damage that was done and he turned out like this:

I put an ultra-glossy finish on him to kinda hide the extensive damage and basic black seemed to camouflage it as well. He will never be resold due to the extent of the damage and the horrible repair job that I did, but it would have broken my heart to put him in a garbage can π Now he just looks like a Halloween Bat!**Once again, if this causes any problems, I will remove it**

I just didn’t want to make any trouble or break any rules π
September 18, 2010 at 3:10 am #827184Don’t let what I said bother you either. I have just seen repaint threads get ripped apart in the past. I would LOVE to share photos of my repaints, but I jut get scared sometimes Windstone would be mad so I pretty much keep it to myself. It doesn’t mean everyone has to. You’re not trying to sell your schemes are production windstones, but unfortunately, some people do and that’s why it gets discouraged. Windstone doesn’t want collectors to buy a Windstone and end up with something unofficial and be angry with the company. It cause all kinds of confusion they don’t want to deal with.
I think Melody probably likes seeing new schemes on her sculptures! It shows how much we love her work when damaged sculptures are brought back to life! π Basically all my repaints were damaged sculptures I wasn’t fully satisfied with the repair on. It will eventually irritate me to the point I have to just buy an undamaged one and when I do, I’ll repaint the old one for fun if I don’t sell it. So far I think I have around 7 or 8 repaints. Some are around on the forum here and there in some group photos. π³ I just do them for myself mainly, but just in the case something happened to me ( I know nobody in my family cares for Windstones ) and since I don’t have insurance, I’m sure they would be sold off to pay for different costs. I don’t want to end up unintentionally burdening Windstone if something like that happened. That’s why I destroy the pads or use permanent marker on them.
Chances are like 2% but I always think of that kind of stuff for the “what if’s” in life π³ I wish I thought that way for important stuff. Like retirement or saving money! π

Nah, I just wanted to take every precaution so I don’t cause an uproar, and to show Bodine that I’ve got a Windstone with a boo-boo too! I thought as long as I label everything, and be cooperative no one can get mad at me. Better safe than sorry π
September 18, 2010 at 4:08 am #827186AnonymousWow Skeeter, your Happy Cat looks GREAT and very very Happy LOL You did a fine job, but I can see how mending a broken up wing in the original stone look finish would be hard to hide and fix!!
I just want to say that it seems a lot of you artsy folks here have repainted Windstones, and it’s become taboo to post them to the boards when in fact, you all seem to know the rules of marking them as repaints. I don’t think it’s illegal to repaint a Windstone if you are the owner or even resell it – what you can’t do is claim that Melody/Windstone did it. Of course in ten-twenty years Melody will have covered every possible color variation and it will be really hard for a person like myself to tell who the heck painted it LOL But, as long as the buyer likes it, that’s all that should matter!
………snips the rest of what I was going to say………… lol
September 18, 2010 at 12:10 pm #827187Well, after I buy it I consider it my property and I can do with it as I like, but of course what you said is exactly correct. If I tried to sell them & pass them off as a legit “official Windstone” scheme that would not only be illegal, but just REALLY freaking rude! ROFL! Still though, just to stay out of trouble, I’m sure most forum members keep it to themselves now.

I wish we could have a thread for people to show their re-paints, i’ve always been very curious to see what people’s imaginations do to their windstones that otherwise would have gone to that dumpster in the sky π
September 18, 2010 at 6:48 pm #827191Awww,you guys…. π You all made me feel better.I tried to match the white but without the airbrush and mix right,it wasn’t happening.I love all my sculptures from Windstone and this one will be staying home.Thank you Ms.Jennifer.I guess I should ask first before posting something questionable next time π No disrespect intended towards Windstone for repainting one π³
Every act matters. No matter how smallπ

Male Hearth....one dayπ€Dream on.October 25, 2010 at 3:37 pm #827192I was wondering if it would be such a terrible thing if I repainted that white scratcher I got that has been badly repaired. He really needs to be rebroken and the goop carved out, then reglued/resculpted. I’m willing to try, but since I don’t airbrush I’m not certain I could match the paint job well enough. I was thinking of engraving into the bottom (under the felt, in case it is ever removed) ‘REPAINT’ and writing it in permanent ink on the pad.
Th problem with it is that I do/will need to sell him. On top of that, I don’t know how to edit words/watermarks into photos, all I could do is lean a sign against him saying ‘REPAINT’.October 25, 2010 at 6:39 pm #827193If you need help with the watermark/text, Pip, I can do that for you π If you didn’t want to repaint the whole dragon, you could give him some pearly ______________ accents. Like a pearly blue or a pearly pink similar to the goof up old warriors…or put more gold and add some pearly orange to make him more like a fall dragon…in which case if you do, I might have to scratch up some extra funds somewhere π lol
