Oooooowwies!!! It’s unconfortable, but not excruchiating so I don’t think it’s infected. I can swish mouthwash and it tingles, but doesn’t sting… that must be a good sign right? I’m afraid to eat anything though and I’m STARVING!
A few peole gave me the name of a nice dentist and if I use them as a refferal he might give me a deal. I’ll have to give him a call later or tomorrow…or next week……*procrastinating*

(The Army makes us go at least annually, and I go a couple times a year just to have my teeth cleaned) My whole family has bad teeth, so it probably is pretty common not to go, hu? Dont be scared, and do keep using mouthwash. Please go though… you’ll be glad you did. Afterwords…not during of course… And maxing your cards on pets?? That is so like every one of us on this forum! 😆

Maybe? I know I didn’t go from sometime in Sr. High School until a little over a year ago (about 10 years). I never had a single issue with my teeth and have very little wear on my teeth, so other doctor appts. were more important to spend my money on than to drive 2 hours home from college just to have someone tell me that my teeth were fine, give them a power cleaning, and give me a toothbrush. I only went because of an x-ray I had at an ENT (the ENT never caught it – rather they didn’t know it was a tooth, but I knew it was a tooth … the root was into my sinus cavity and I’d been more sinus issues than usual). We decided to surgically remove my wisdom teeth as a precaution (none of them ever came in and were sort of at weird angles, but they were easier to do now than say, when I’m 50, should they cause an issue – plus my insurance covered it). I go for the free cleanings now (since they are covered by my insurance), just to stay on my dentist’s list of patients, otherwise I wouldn’t go as frequently because I don’t have to.
Awwww… poor Drag0n! Now I know what you were talking about on the phone earlier. 🙁 Definitely go get it checked out. It can be infected and not hurt (yet). You don’t want to risk having an infection get bad enough that you could get something like blood poisoning and end up with a bigger issue. Some places will work out a payment plan with you too if you ask.

Probably more common than you’d think. 😆 I haven’t been to the dentist in year either. Up to 8th grade or so they have you go for a checkup every year; I haven’t been since. Never been to a doctor either, as far as that goes.
If the tooth is infected, make sure you get it looked at ASAP. Pain or not, if the infection spreads to your jaw or to your bloodstream it could become very serious. Let us know what you find out.
I had a bad experience after getting my wisdom teeth pulled and haven’t been to the dentist in over a year because of it. The last time I went they gave me valium to calm me down but I was still worked up about it. I know I need to go but I hate dentist.
I’m going to the dentist myself on Saturday. I have a baby tooth I’ve been nurturing for 20 years that I am afraid has finally started to decay 😥 . Hopefully my bite has changed and it can be saved but if the tooth has gone bad I’m looking at having it pulled and then having to have an implant put in. This is going to hurt and be expensive. So I feel your pain as I also lack insurance. The only benefit I have my dentist will take payments.

Sun Dragon Koi #3I can’t believe somebody hasn’t been to a dentist in over ten years. In the long run it is a cheap preventative measure to go periodically. I go every six months for cleaning and checking (my company insurance pays 100% of this) but even if my insurance didn’t pay for it I would. Not only does a dentist check your teeth they can also pick up on clues that can help you prevent other problems as well. Anyway get to a dentist before it becomes a bigger problem.
If it is a molar, then definately go with a regular silver cap. Gold caps cost more, and are softer actually. I had a root canal when I was 20…I got a metal cap. I eat Gobstoppers and carmels with it, and 16 years later it is still attached and doing well.
Another thing about pulling teeth…If it is a bottom molar, and you still have the one above it, then you should fix it if you can. Once you pull a bottom tooth the top one has a tendancy to sorta “droop” out of the socket. My own dentist told me that. He also was the one who advised me not to get the enamel caps in the back. Thank God I only have had to get the one. My mom has had every tooth capped except one, and it is filled. 😮

My aunt assures me you want to keep your teeth as long a possible. She’s lost all but 5 of hers and the dentures are a pain the but. She’s only 54.

I’m sure it’s going to be really expensive to save it. I wonder what will happen if I just get it pulled. Will me teeth start to spread out and get gaps? They “look” really good… they always have “looked good” but they’ve always been bad in all my molars. I don’t undestand I brush twice a day, floss and use mouthwash after meals. I hate this

If you have a gap it weakens the other teeth on either side and eventually they loosen and fall out. That’s why I’ll need the implant if my tooth is bad. So I don’t lose the others. I’m too young for dentures so I pay the dentist the amazingly large sum of money to save my mouth…..I could probably buy a Secret Keeper, but an SK won’t let me chew my food. 😆
