😥 My tooth broke at work today! Waaaaaaaahhh….. one of my back teeth that has been bothering me all week, but I have been ignoring it. I took a bite of chicken parm from the leftovers after the function we had at the restaurant and immediately I could feel something…that… didn’t feel like chicken in my mouth! 🙄 I skipped enrollment for insurance this year and I have 8 more months before it comes back around again. I haven’t gone to the dentist in over 10 years…. more then that even. Oh! I’m scared! I don’t wanna gooooo!!!!!
Good news is Shaun figured out if I sit in the bottom step in our hallway outside the house I can get internet 😳

omg! O_____________o
what are you going to do?June 14, 2009 at 11:38 pm #769825I had replied to someone with very sick kittens about this card–it is called ‘CareCredit’ and is for all sorts of medical needs–DENTISTRY, vision, audiology, veterinary. Go to their site carecredit.com and see what providers are in your area. At least you can make payments over a period of time which will help financially. You really need to get your teeth looked at and the sooner the better! Good luck and yeah, I know it sucks going to the dentist.
If you have trouble with your internet their phone number is 800-893-7864.
June 14, 2009 at 11:52 pm #769826nothing worst than a toothache! :shout: :shout: :shout:
It’s possible the dentist could do something called “temporizing” it until your insurance comes back around–it worked on one of my teeth, but not another one, once, when I had spent my insurance limit that year, but at least I got one temporized until the following year.June 14, 2009 at 11:53 pm #769827plus you could probably get by with stainless steel crown or temporary filling until insurance comes back
June 15, 2009 at 12:48 am #769828I had the same thing happen to me last year. A dentist can put a temporary filling in that will last until you get insurance again. I had almost half my molar break off and he was still able to patch it until they could get me in to fix it.

Ah, I know how you feel…I’ve only been to the dentist a few times in my life, and one of those times was to get six crowns! (I had severely misaligned teeth) Don’t worry, though – I’m a big ‘fraidy cat when it comes to dentists but it really wasn’t bad at all. It’s amazing what dentists can do these days!
I hope you can get your insurance straightened out (the others have already given great advice)
June 15, 2009 at 1:17 am #769830I had one of those Care One Credit Cards, I maxed it out n veterinary care though. Ooohhh… I’m scared. I wonder if they can do that temporary thing? I was looking at it under a light and the very center of my tooth where is broke has a tiny circle that is grass green colored! 😮 Waaah! What is THAT?!??! I’m going to need a route canal! Maybe they can just pull it out!

You would be surprised what can be saved. It sounds like it may be infected if it is green, but antibiotics, especially if it is “open” now, and a temporizing may hold it over for 8 months. And if it is a back tooth, no matter how much dentists like you to pay the big bucks for the porcelan crowns, believe me, the stainless steel crowns are just fine for at least a 3 year life span for a lot less money. 8)
June 15, 2009 at 4:48 am #76983249ER’s right, save the tooth if you can. You’ll be happy later on that you did. Green stuff? Not good. It does sound infected, when are you going in? Are you taking any painkillers right now? Something stronger than Tylenol?
June 15, 2009 at 12:57 pm #769833Ouch, how miserable! 🙁 I hope you’re able to find a solution that isn’t too expensive OR painful. 🙁

I had a stainless steel crown on one of my baby molars from the time the tooth came in (it came in with a hole all the way through it) until the time I lost the tooth…probably close to 10 years. Of course the crown was put on the tooth in the early/mid-1980s. Heck I still have a Porcelain cap/crown on one of my two front teeth that is going on 20 years.
