I bought my mother a full set of the white unicorns, and when she passed I got them back. I was going through my boxes after a garage cleanup and found them. I am very happy but there is an issue.
My mom was a heavy smoker and they are nasty and brown from the nicotine. I have tried Dawn and a soft toothbrush but it isn’t working well.
Is there any way to clean them that won’t destroy them?

Vinegar and ammonia are supposed to remove tobacco stains and odors , but may damage the paint.
We get this question once in awhile so I’d like to know if anything actually works !

I don’t recommend this on a valuable piece. But it worked for me because the condition was so bad I was willing to accept some damage.
This will probably make you cringe, but I soaked it in an OxyClean solution, then used a soft toothbrush. There was some bubbling of the finish but I smoothed it down as it was drying and you can’t see it at all.
These were literally brown as an oak stain. Now they are white again. 🥰
