Hello! I just joined the forum and I have a question for seasoned collectors. A few years back I picked up a gorgeous emerald mother dragon at a flea market. I never really paid that much attention to issue dates, I just picked up the pieces that I liked.
But I noticed a few weeks ago that my dragon says Pena 1985. I checked online and the earliest edition of my dragon I can find is from 1997, with a reissue in 2004. She’s emerald green with gold highlights, red eyes, and two red crystals on her forehead. Did the reissues have a 1985 date? She has the Windstone stamp on the bottom and she’s quite heavy, but I guess I’m just worried that she may be a fake because I can’t find any records of her.
Any help or info you could give me would be greatly appreciated!!

The dated you will find engraved on the different pieces are actually the date that the sculp was finished and copyrighted I believe. So all Mother dragons, no matter what their color, have the 1985 date on them, just like all Emperors have 1991 and so on…
December 16, 2012 at 4:11 am #890022Ah, that makes sense. Thanks so much for your response! Just realizing how much more I need to learn about these beautiful figures … I collect a number of other items (mostly 80’s toys), but I’ve just been picking up my dragons when I can because I think they’re beautiful.
So, I suppose I have the 1997 emerald mother dragon that was retired in 2004. So happy to have a retired piece!!!
