Nah… I just sit down and do it… only takes around 15 minutes… It’d take me longer to load everything into the ‘puter!! lol…
You’d be surprised…most of the banks and brokerages are set up for Quicken downloads, so all of the info gets entered automatically via the download. One nice thing is that you can also automatically download all of the info from Quicken into your tax software, which saves a lot of time. But its really depends on what you’re comfortable with, and it sounds like your method also works fine! 🙂

That’s true! I’m constantly backing up my Quicken files.

My boyfriend and I, though we share an apartment, have totally separate finances, and plan on continuing to do so. So even if I spend all my money, it only affects him if I can’t pay my half the rent/utilities, and I’d never not do that, even if I had to sell my collection.
This is how it was with my marriage. We never fought about money, thats for sure. Mine was mine and his was his. We did whatever we wanted w/our own money. He paid the phone and I paid the cable, etc etc…
April 16, 2007 at 3:00 pm #562239That’s what we do too. Divide things up. He’s got the bulk of it cause I’m still in school. I’m sure that’s why he would be mad about my Windstones. He just refinanced the house, though, to get a laser etcher to start his business. Those things aren’t cheap. But it’s to make money, so it’s an investment. I keep trying to tell him the Windstones are the same, but he keeps bringing up Beanie Babies when I do. I tried to explain the difference, but it doesn’t do any good, he just says, “Beanie Babies” over and over until I’m ready to punch him. So I shake my head and walk away instead. He hasn’t told me to sell any, but he says I have too many, so it works to be the same thing really. I can’t decide what to do, so I haven’t done anything yet. *sigh*
April 16, 2007 at 7:15 pm #562240A fad and a genuine collector’s item are totally different! (And hey, a few people with good timing made a KILLING off beanie babies.)
April 16, 2007 at 8:11 pm #562241What was the deal with the beanie babies? ❓
April 16, 2007 at 8:17 pm #562242They were a huge fad to collect for a long time. People would line up outside places for them when stores would get their shipments in. They would limit how many you could buy… all that stuff. Then nothing. Now you can’t sell them on ebay for anything. I think ebay ruined it actually. Now they are easy to find, so their value has plummeted. I’m selling off part of my collection and I’m lucky to get $2 for one. I paid at least $5 for each one, so it’s a loss, but I need to unload, so I have to do it. He’s worried that Windstones prices will plummet too, and I’ll lose hundreds instead of a few bucks.
April 16, 2007 at 8:39 pm #562243It’s not even close to the same thing though. Windstones have steadily grown in value for more than twenty years now. Beanie Babies were huge one year, bigger the next year, and then gone the year after.
April 16, 2007 at 9:12 pm #562244I try to tell him that, but he just says, “Beanie Babies” over and over. It’s useless. I think he just likes pushing my buttons. The thing is he isn’t really mad. I think he’s just teasing me. But he does it so well! 👿
