I have to practice dragonflage. Definitely. He picks out stuff after a while too though. He just doesn’t always say anything. Like when I got the Male and Female White Griffins. I rearranged everything and add them in. He came in my office, looked right at them and didn’t say a word. When the sitting chick came, he said, “That’s cute.” The other day (before the crouching chick came) he said, “You know, I’m really liking those White Griffins. I wasn’t too sure at first, but they’re growing on me.” I told him I was getting the other baby, and he gave me a raised eyebrow, but I said that I had to have the complete family. He shrugged and said, “I suppose so.” Now he’s seen the crouching one and his first words were, “It’s got a kitty butt!” Ha ha ha ha! 😆 He thinks it’s cute.
I still haven’t put out my calico flap cat yet. I have some more rearranging to do first. And I need to get another shelf for my geek shelving and move some things up there, like my my hatching royal peacock trio and my dinosaurs and poad. Maybe by then I’ll have more money, and it won’t matter to him that I got the calico cat. *sigh* I hate deception! 🙁
April 15, 2007 at 3:23 pm #562223At least he likes the white griffins! That’s good. He could get into an awful fuss over their cost if he wanted to, I’m sure.

He could, but he didn’t ask me how much they cost. He did ask me what the most expensive thing was on my table and it was my tan griffin at the time. He asked how much that was and had a small cow over it. I think he’s afraid to ask any more. 🙂
April 15, 2007 at 7:06 pm #562225I don;t have to do much.In fact I kinda make it a game. when I first got my BG young, I immediately put him on the shelf with my other “nice” stuff. Later when my dad came home..I asked him,”I got something new, can you spot it?”
and he looks around. And he is looking at my walls.
It is a proven fact that a person never looks behind themselves when looking for something. I know this because my dad proved it.He points to a poster on my wall,” is that it? I don’t remember seeing that one.”
me,” no dad, That has been on my wall for the past year. Remember that there is 4 walls to the room.”
so he turns around and points to a vase next to the Young. I shake my head no and he stands back and stairs at the shelf..then leans forword to look closer at the young,”this one?”
I smiled and siad yes.
I did the same thing with my Lap dragon. In fact I put her on the same shelf and my dad still had a hard time finding it. It did take him less time..but still 5 minutes.
April 15, 2007 at 7:15 pm #562226😆 Neat idea, to make a game out of it.
April 15, 2007 at 7:25 pm #562227It is reallly fun..especialy when they pick up things that have been there for years.
April 15, 2007 at 8:27 pm #562228My husband just looks at it, says, “Cool” and then goes on. He doesn’t ask how much it was, or say anything about me spending the money.
He’s always been pretty good about that, as long as my purchases don’t leave us dead broke, he lets them go.

April 15, 2007 at 9:35 pm #562229I think it’s the “us” in most of these situations that’s the problem. My boyfriend and I, though we share an apartment, have totally separate finances, and plan on continuing to do so. So even if I spend all my money, it only affects him if I can’t pay my half the rent/utilities, and I’d never not do that, even if I had to sell my collection. (Heck, last month I did sell several pieces in order to make rent.) It must be pretty hard when there’s a joint bank account, so spending your money is spending somebody else’s money too.
April 15, 2007 at 9:50 pm #562230For years, hubby and I have had our own “fun money” accounts… We have a joint account that we put most of our money in, but give ourselves an allowance so we can buy presents, etc. That way we don’t have to worry about having enough money to cover the bills. It’s worked for us for almost 9 years!

I like that practice and I’m glad to hear it is successful for you since I had considered doing something similar if I ever got married.
April 15, 2007 at 10:56 pm #562232My Siblngs and thier significant others do that to. That way the other can’t complain about the ‘toys’ 😀
April 16, 2007 at 2:13 am #562233Personally, I think it’s wonderful… You have your bills covered, and you can spend or save what you want. The key is not “loaning” yourself money out of the bill money… If you can avoid that temptation, it works really well. The worst drawback is balancing 2 checkbooks instead of just one…

Have you guys been using Quicken? I like that a lot.
And a lot of the couples I know also use your strategy. It seems to work really well!
April 16, 2007 at 2:35 am #562235You’ve got two people to balance ’em. *grins*
April 16, 2007 at 2:40 am #562236Nah… I just sit down and do it… only takes around 15 minutes… It’d take me longer to load everything into the ‘puter!! lol… Plus I don’t have to worry about backups (and losing said backups!)! Really, if you saw my desk you’d be horrified… Blows the “accountants are organized” theory right out of the water!!
And I figure 2 checkbooks… he can balance his own!! lol….
