Having the COAs signed by John is not new. Last year I was lucky enough to get Olympia’s Cinnamon Pearl Riser (painted in 2008) and that COA is signed “John L. Alberti President, Windstone Editions”. The dragon, however, is signed by Olympia.

I suppose it’s the fact that the dragon itself is ALSO not signed that really gets me. On the COA, does it say the artist’s name? That also matters. It’s not so much that John signs the COA, it’s more that the name of the artist is included as well as the piece being signed by the artist.

Sorry – I should have said that the name of the artist is included, as in “designed and executed by … Olimpia Carapia …” Obviously I didn’t read the text that closely – I see that I mis-spelled Olimpia’s name before (oops).

Just wanted to make it clear that our Mystery Test Painter wishes to remain annonymous at this time, Windstone is not forcing that upon “P.S.”

Thanks for the clarification, Susie! I can totally respect that. 🙂

Everyone has their own opinion about this . Mine is it doesnt matter . Its a Windstone and you get a COA that is enough to show that it was done by the factory no matter who paints it . I do not feel it ruins the value at all. He is deffinately a beautiful piece and my compliments to whoever painted him and i hope that this person continues to come up with even more stunning pieces.

If the artist wishes to remain anonymous for now, I respect that. I don’t like it, but I respect it. Having an inquisitive mind, I next wonder why they would not wish to claim their due accolades. My best guess is that they wish to see how their work sells on its own merits and not because of their name. My immediate jumping to conclusions says Chessie or Griffin; of course it could be Susie or Pam or John too. Can’t think of any others with name recognition. 🙂

          That’s what I thought too!

Unless …. Maybe it is one of our very talented forum members?

I figure the artist must have a good reason why she doesn’t want to sign her name so I respect her decision to sign the pieces P.S. Who knows? In the future they might be highly sought if the artist does reveal herself or even if she doesn’t due to the mystery. Stranger things have happened.

the beauty of the piece is what draws me, the signature is not something I look at especially since it’s on the bottom of the piece….

              4 things I'm looking for:
              1. Mother Meerkat
              2. production color Sitting Young Oriental dragons to be made in more colors besides VF, Brimstone would be awesome!
              3. Female Griffin – Siamese with White
              4. September Raffle Prize 2022 AHD Male Griffin

I tend to stay with Melody’s work just for the fact that I love getting the COA with a special sketch 🙂 But when I saw Jennifer’s Zebra Uni, I just didn’t care. That was awesome and I wanted it no matter what! Though we don’t always get what we want… LOL.

So, I agree. What draws me in is the paintjob. I don’t really care who painted it.
As a side note, I’ve watched Antique Roadshow where a famous painting or some odd thing was brought up to the appraiser. The item was made under the famous name, but they went into detail about how they could tell a “subcontractor” artist actually did the work under the artist’s direction.
It actually made the thing more valuable by quite a bit.

So, really doesn’t matter to me. If I gasp when I see the piece, I do what I can to snag it!

As stated in the auction, the painter is one of our regular production painters. “P.S.” are their real initials. 🙂 I hope that clears up any confusion. This is not the first time that production painters have painted ebay items. Many (most?) “first 10 editions”, for example, were not painted by Melody).

My theory is much more entertaining, Pam.

I think P.S.’s dragons are absolutely gorgeous! And even though she (or he) is remaining anonymous at this time, I think this individual has a lot of talent! The fact alone that out of all the painters at the Windstone factory, this person was able to include their dragons with the highly prized Ebay sculptures is remarkable. I really look forward on seeing more of their beautifully painted Windstones in the future!

And who knows! If this individual continues to release successful Ebay sculpts, they might even reveal their name and become eagerly recognizable!
(…which would increase the values of all their original Ebay pieces including the Jade Copper and Burgundy Autumn Leaf dragons!)

I know it’s corny, but it’s like the saying goes… “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet” 🙂

XD I think this is becoming too serious… I was just voicing my opinion and how I think on things, I wasn’t try to sway anyone to think like me! Just because some people don’t like the way it’s being done (for whatever reason!) doesn’t mean it won’t still be wildly popular 😛

I am just happy to have a new source for ebay stuff. Now when I get low on Melody pieces, I can just go up to PS and say “hey, paint this dragon like something!” (when I try that on Melody, I usually get “I can’t, I’m painting silver wolf griffin chicks”).
