Soooo, since they arent named in the auctions I figured I would ask here. Who are these new ebay piece painter(s ) that have painted the lovely male and oriental dragons on ebay right now? The male especially is quite pretty and I love any time the male sculpt shows up on ebay.
Introductions? (:
July 27, 2011 at 2:05 am #852069Its a secret.
July 27, 2011 at 2:14 am #852070They are both lovely pieces, especially the male. I’m not too crazy about the idea of someone who isn’t Melody basically using her old color scheme names.. “Burgundy Autumn Leaf” just seems lazy.. that scheme is quite obviously a different color scheme, so why does it have the “Autumn Leaf” tacked onto it? :/ Just not crazy about that, call me picky…

This dragon was not inspired in any way by Melody’s Autumn Leaf dragons, but he turned out looking so “Autumn Leaf-ish” that we decided to include him in the Autumn Leaf family. It was my original idea to call him an autumn leaf because he looked very similar to Melody’s Red Autumn Leaf OW’s and I don’t like having to keep track of a bunch of totally different names for color schemes that look so similar. Melody agreed that he looked very similar to an autumn leaf, and she and P.S. both approved of the name “Burgundy Autumn Leaf”.
July 27, 2011 at 2:37 am #852073He’s gorgeous. I just need to win the lottery so I can outbid Wampus on something. 😉

I’m totally sure that the name was approved by everyone! I’m not trying to say that anyone stole from Melody… it’s just my own little pet peeve that probably doesn’t bother anyone else. *shrug* I just don’t like that it is a scheme that looks so new to me – it doesn’t feel like it belongs as an “autumn leaf” Windstone.

July 27, 2011 at 10:04 am #852088Burgundy Autumn Leaf is goooooorgeous. I think the name fits pretty well Hannah, but to each his own 🙂
I sooooooooo wish I could win this guy! *wantwantwant* That deep burgundy on his spine is gorgeous, is that not too much of a bad red that we might see more of that color?
July 27, 2011 at 2:03 pm #852096I don’t know if I’m just being grumpy, but if I was in the financial state to bid on these (and I really love the Jade Copper oriental enough to do so if I could), I would be absolutely interested in knowing who’s work I am bidding on… especially since the pieces will not be signed by Melody, but by the painter.
Initially the idea behind special pieces like this on eBay was to offer artist painted pieces. Museum quality, I think were John’s words. Now, I know test paints are test paints are test paints. They are not an artist’s edition, but still: Why hide the name of the artist? It is very off-putting. As a Windstone (paint) artist myself it is actually a little frustrating!

i agree! i would definitely want to know who the artist is if i were interested in bidding on the piece. (not a fan of the male or oriental dragons)
July 27, 2011 at 2:49 pm #852101That burgundy male is just gorgeous! Props to the painter, whoever they are:)
July 27, 2011 at 2:56 pm #852102I very much agree along the same lines as Jennifer. If you are buying a special piece…then the painter of that piece should be recognized as the painter….we even do that for PYOs…we sign the bottoms so everyone knows who painted it. Hiding the artist is not practical or nice to the person who is going to spend hundreds of dollars on a piece and they have no idea who P.S. is…
July 27, 2011 at 5:09 pm #852113I also agree with Jennifer and Riversgrace here…..they said it better than I could though.
If a piece is going to be sold individually, in auction style….which is a more exclusive type sale, then the painter needs to be noted.
If the individual painter isnt being listed…then I feel it should be a color kept to the windstone store or limited production, which are ‘factory’ produced pieces, and therefore not expected to have the painter listed every time.
People pay more on the ebay auctions because of the exclusive individuality of the sculpts. Taking away that credit to the painter feels like cutting corners to me…..pulling in a higher sale price, but without giving that added ‘by this artist’ credential.
July 27, 2011 at 5:33 pm #852114Photos with the listings show that the pad is signed “P.S.” for both the “Jade Copper” oriental and the “Burgundy” Male, but it sounds as though the COAs will be signed with the painter’s name. At least, that is how I interpret a “signed Letter of Authenticity”. Perhaps she just doesn’t want her name on the auction for some reason.
July 27, 2011 at 5:38 pm #852115I like the color combo and I’d bid if I could afford it, regardless of who the painter is. After all, Olimpia isn’t Melody, yet her pieces are stunning. Jennifer isn’t Melody, and her pieces are highly sought after. Why would the name of the artist be something required before purchasing. Without Windstone, it might be that we’d never know who Jennifer and Olimpia were. If Windstone (and Melody) approve of the work, and a person likes it, why is it such a big deal what that person’s NAME is?
That being said, if I bought the piece and found out that it was signed by a serial killer or something like that, I might be upset. But I trust that Windstone wouldn’t do that.
