Since he is part aussie, either cattle dog or queensland, how about an australian name, like Boomer, it is a large male Kangaroo, LOL.

Gah! He’s adorable! My parents were lucky with their dog, she came potty trained at 3 months old. 8) Lucky people, they were. She did, however, destroy the garbage every once in a while…

I’d take him for nice long walks often, so he isn’t cooped up in a small apartment day in and day out. I’ve never potty trained a dog, so… no advice there, but you got lots on that one.

I’d also get him lots of toys to play with… things that don’t necessarily require tossing to be fun, so that he doesn’t destroy things that you don’t want destroyed (like your couch, or the cushions on the couch if you’re lucky).

He is Beautiful, I had a female shepard called Cheyanne, also a male called Kodie.
When I was training them I would give them a treat, one of those small generic milk bones,
they loved them. Every time I took them out and brought them in they went to where
I kept the treats and sat there until I gave them one. They new they would get a treat
everytime they went, it’s an idea to try. Also I never fed them after 5:00 pm, in the
morning I’d feed them and take them out 1/2 hour later and the same thing around
dinner time, then before I went to bed, Hope it helps.

Bogart/Beauford, Jasper, Boomer and Kodie are great names! Thanks for all the suggestions. I’ll try them out for size. I was contemplating Rusty or something. I was leaning towards an J or and R name.

He’s only made one potty mess and one tear up mess since he’s been home. I guess we missed the sign the first time and he got bored and lonely the second time. I’m going to go out and buy him more toys tonight. I’m worry when we’ll be out to work how he’ll do. The vet said only two weeks before long walks/baths/play time, so we have to break him in slowly.

I’m now living in Salinas/Monterey. We have two balconys and a large grassy and treed opening around us. He loves going out a lot, as I would expect, but is a really good boy when the door opens.

      I’m so happy. πŸ™‚ It’s a real step in the right direction… πŸ™‚

I think I found his name… It took some time and I’ve got to try it out on him:
        Rory

It’s Gaelic/Irish for red, and short for Roderick.
