Hey guys, thought I’d give you a quickie update and get some NAME IDEAS… 🙂
As soon as I layed eyes on him I just LOVED him and had to take him home. I had to walk away for a day and could still hear his lonesome howls from the parking lot. Broke my heart. When he was still there… He was meant to be mine. 🙂
This handsome Fellow is about 1-2 years old, red & white queensland heeler (or variant of), adopted from the Shelter. He’s super sweet, very mellow, doesn’t bark (only howls when lonely), smart and intermediately trained to heel and wait.
I’m looking for a good solid name, something easy to say in public 😉
P.S. I also could use a few pointers on potty training and apartment-izing a medium size (35 lb) dog.
P.S.S. I’m going to be selling a few Windstones to fund him, so keep an eye peeled for another post tomorrow or so.. 8)

September 20, 2008 at 7:23 am #733289Congrats and great looking dog. I love when folks adopt. How about Bogart? Bo for short? Just an idea… 🙂
September 20, 2008 at 7:34 am #733290that is a beautiful dog! I’ve never seen a dog with spots like that 😀
I’m no good at names 😛
September 20, 2008 at 7:45 am #733291Awww! He is so beautiful!! I am so happy for you! His coat is gorgeous! He looks like a Duke to me. I don’t know about apartment-izing, and potty training…wow, it’s been a while for me. Just make sure to always use positive reinforcememnt when he succeeds, and it never works to stick his nose in his messes after he potty’s in the house because it wont register to him why he is being punished. Always catch him in the act and shout a sharp “AH!” so he can associate a negitive thing with pottying in the house. Keep him on a leash if you have to so you can always catch him in the act. Good luck! 😀
For other names, I kept on thinking of Speckles, Freckles, or Dapple. 😉
September 20, 2008 at 12:02 pm #733292He’s gorgeous!
I know it’s silly, but the first thing that came into mind for a name is Giraffe…
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

Congrats! He’s beautiful!
Potty training, take him outside frequently, praise him to death when he goes outside. Scold him severely if you catch him in the act of messing in the apt…but you will have to catch him for him to understand why you are mad. If you can, encourage him to ask to go outside.
When he is with you, watch him, whenever he gets up and starts wandering around the house with his nose down, take him outside, he’s hunting for a potty spot. Also, keep him confined to the room you are in, close doors to keep him out.
Dogs usually will not potty where they sleep, they tend to go outside the area, they will consider another room to be outside. So when you are in your bedroom, keep your door shut, and when you get up, take him outside immediately.
If you keep your bedroom door open, he will go out to the livingroom to do his business. Not fun.
Crate him when you aren’t home, or keep him in the yard…I hope your apt has a yard. Hope this stuff helps.
Still living in Atascadero?
Glad to see you are doing okay. Been wondering how you are.
Kyrin
September 20, 2008 at 3:58 pm #733294He is Handsome…absolutly gorgeous, I am so glad to see that you were able to give him a good home.
A while back I was thinking of volunteering in an animal shelter but I realized that if I did I would probably end up adopting all of the dogs and that would not be a good thing since I have a small house and one big dog already… 🙂 . I just love hearing about others adopting shelter dogs becasue there are so many of them that need good homes. I am sure he is very greatful to you as well… 😀
As for an idea for a name I will have to agree with Kyrin…the first thing that popped into my head was also Jasper… 😀 He reminds me of a Jasper stone…because of his markings 😀Marzena
September 20, 2008 at 5:51 pm #733295He’s a handsome pup! I was thinking Freckles first too, maybe something Irish for the freckles….Finn? Though I have to say I like Jasper too!

September 20, 2008 at 9:32 pm #733299That’s a beautiful dog! Congrats 🙂 Although I’m not the best with names, I liked DDVMs suggestion of Brody.
September 20, 2008 at 9:49 pm #733300I kind of like Charlie 🙂 Though… were he my dog… I would be terribly unoriginal and nickname him Spot 😳 😆
